For those of you in the know, I would like your opinion on the following: Does a blog comment on a niche related PR3 blog give more, less or the same link juice as a blog post on a non-niche related PR3 blog (such as you get when using a service like BMR).

Please assume for these purposes that the comment does not have good anchor text while the post will have keyword anchor text.

Thanks

About the same, but you are less likely to get penalized for unnatural link building if the blog is relevant.

It is certainly quicker using a service like BMR than it is to hunt down high PR do follow blogs but I would think that if the link juice is about the same, leaving comments would be more beneficial as they would be less likely to be de-indexed. It would also be free as opposed to $59 a month.

You should remember that a comment backlink on a pr3 page stays and a pr3 post, just slide to the deeps of the website and after few days get's the PR0.
So your question is - what's better, comment link on a relevant PR3 page, or contextual link with PR0.
Well, since comment backlink usually get deleted or just share the juice with hundreds of other links, I would say that the contextual is better.

But you need backlinks with PR so the best thing you can do is mix them.

jdooley, BMR posts might be PR3 initially, but long term you're posting on a PR0. If you can make a comment stick on a PR3 blog it won't "roll off the home page." This means that a comment on a PR3 blog that sticks is much more powerful than a BMR post. However, BMR posts have the advantage that the owner of the site won't delete your post if he ever gets his act together.

Neither of these should be used to the point that they account for more than 25% of your back links though.

I think the comment is better, because the PR of the page where you place a blogpost will go on 2nd, 3rd page in the blog.. and the PR will decrease

According to me blog comment is better than blog posting if your comment is do follow, you can get better link juice and backlink by doing blog comment on relevant blog rather than blog posting on irrelevant blogs.

In my opinion blog commenting now appears like spam. And more over most of the blogs provide no follow links. Blog posting should also be done carefully. Create a single blog and post your updates regularly in the same blog and have your keywords as anchor text. Creating many blogs and having the same content in all those blogs will also become a spam.
