Looking for some help with Adsense on my site

You do not have any adsense on your main home page, try adding that and see how that goes. You can also add more than one adsense block try 2-3 one every page. I hope this helps.

Add maybe a 728x15 under the header and a 160x600 (or 120x600) sidebar on the left side of your homepage and see how that goes.

put a Large Horizontal link unit 728 x 15 just below your menu bar

If your site is wordpress use a plugin called 'quick adsense'

insert at the top before the post starts, and it will put the ad in every page

or

Go into the code of your theme's editor and put it there so it will
automatically appear every page

Based on your traffic of 5,000 visitors per day , it should put atleast $50-$100 per month in your pocket

test it and let us know your results.

Definitely get more ads up on your site, in fact you may even want to look into a nice wordpress theme that lets you plaster a few more ads up there. Adsense will limit you to 5 ads per page, and with a lot of my sites with high traffic, I like to put at least 4-5 ads up. I've found the 300x250 ad block works really well as it is a perfect size ad to attract attention without being too spammy, and a ton of advertisers create images for this format so it helps make sure you get lots of content through.

You may also want to look into a few clickbank offers for the page as I'm sure you could find some good stuff on anime / how to speak japanese, cosplay, etc... These sort of things should really appeal to the audience it looks like you are trying to target to the site.

Is putting more ads on the page really the answer? I was reading posts on these forums before I made mine and they were saying that it was better to use less ads because then only the top ones with a higher cost per click would show up.

I'm also kind of nervous about making my site look ugly and spammy by covering it with ads.

Nekojin: I've heard of clickbank but I never thought about looking for japanese/anime related stuff. I'll definitely check that out so thanks for the suggestion.

I had tried affiliate links for a site called J-List that sold various Japanese themed things but that only got me like $2 a month so I removed those ads.

I've tried to influence the adsense ads that appear to include anime related stuff by putting a paragraph with words like anime in it on the page as well as in the description but that didn't seem to work. Is there any way I can try to influence the type of Google show to maybe include more anime related stuff?

First, great job putting together a unique and useful site.

I can see that a lot of the ads are not directly related to your content. So your CTR probably wouldn't be too great.

I think going with Clickbank is the way to go. You will know exactly what you are promoting. And it sounds like you know what your visitors are looking for.

with this amount of traffic, you should have good revenue, 3% is great conversion but if you put the ad's on correct position, then it will great.

you should make some experiment, put the ad's in sidebar, top, article or what ever it is,
watch ther revenue come's in, then you get the best position,
you may delete another ads with don't have conversion

Dude you have to remember that your main site is ranked well not your internal pages. so putting a single ad on the main page/ home page will make .2$ to 20$. without any doubt. with 5000/day you should deserve this amount.
you can try other methods too. some CPA will rock in your site.

You need to put adsense codes on the front page. Also put mutliple ads on every page. With 5k visit per day your site whould earn atleast 50$ a day I think.

When I clicked through your site, majority of the ads were not relevant to your site hence very little income. It was displaying mainly forex ads!

As other warriors have suggested, try different method to monetise the traffic.

There are a numer of affiliate offers for your target market.

Yeah, I can't figure out at all how Google is picking which ads appear. I used to get a ton of ads in Japanese and of course no one was clicking on them because the audience primarily speaks English. I had to go in and ban a ton of ads from appearing.

Last night I tried switching from the text ads to the image and flash ones and I'll see how that goes over the next couple of days until I get some stuff from click bank up there.

The other problem I think I have with Adsense is that even if the ads are completely relevant and showing like emoticon related stuff the people visiting the site probably don't care.

I get a huge amount of repeat traffic from people who go there, find the emoticon they're looking for, copy it to their clipboard and then leave. They might look around for a bit for the right emoticon but they're looking for something specific from my site, not emoticons from another site.

But thanks for the ideas everyone. I'm going to play around this weekend and try adding some more Adsense ads as well as some Clickbank ones that I think will work quite nicely.

I've added some more adsense ads as well as a couple of offers from clickbank.

It seems to me like there are too many ads and I'm worried it's going to cause people to hate my site.

I'm going to monitor how much money I make over the next week and then post another update.

So what do people think? Is this too much advertising, is it good? Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

No, I don't think it's too much advertising in the view of the consumer. They are getting what they are looking for on each page: the emoticons and you provided that in great detail.

As for ads, how are the other ad services working out?
I would even test out going solely on adsense for awhile and see how that works out.

You would better to put adsense in one ads only, you will get a good click, search high keyword, one click is $ 1 or 2
AdSense can have an astonishing effect on blogs. Set the ads to show image and text based ads and I find that 250�--300 pixel ads work better. You must make sure you have keyword rich articles however.

Yeah... That's kind of a problem with this site. I can't really have keyword rich articles. It's a giant list of emoticons and people come to the site looking for those emoticons to copy and paste somewhere.

Almost 70% of the visits to the site are returning visitors looking to use the emoticons in their Facebook posts or whatever.

I assumed Adsense would tailor ads based on people's search history and whatnot a bit but that doesn't really seem to be happening much on this site.

You also used Clickbank banner at top of the content and Adsense in Sidebar and in Bottom of your Content. as per my experience in Adsense you should to use Ads within your Content like Your Page Title then some Content then Ads and then content. It will helps you lot.

Above Page Title you can also place Ads like 728*15 Link Units. It will also earn good ammount of money.

  So Clickbank I think isn't going to work. It seems like I'm getting a decent amount of clicks on the ads I made but no one is buying those products.
  
  The only two products I found on Clickbank I think are too expensive for people hence the lack of sales.

  Adsense is a pretty big improvement. I was making maybe $30 a month before the changes and now I'm on track to make approximately $200 a month which is kind of nice.
  
  I think I managed to block all the completely unrelated finance and other stupid ads which I think helped a lot too.
  
  I can't help but feel like I should be making more though. I keep comparing my self to Pat Flynn and his security guard training niche site which makes like $2,000 a month from Adsense with way less traffic than I'm getting.
  
  I understand that his traffic is much more targeted and the Adsense ads on his site are way more relevant and what not but still, with like 5 times the traffic that he's getting to that site I think I should at least be making I don't know... maybe like $500 a month?
  
  I'm still pretty new to this so I have no idea.

  I think I'm going to kill the Clickbank stuff because that's not getting me anywhere and replace it with some amazon affiliate links to various Japanese and anime related products.
  
  I have friends who are really into the whole anime scene and what not so I figured I could ask them what's popular or newly released and put some affiliate links to those products and then change them up every month or so.
  
  Plus with Amazon Affiliates I'll get that cookie that'll stay on their computer for a while and give me a commission for other random stuff they buy.
  
  Conclusion
  
  So based on that data does anyone have any suggestions on improving Adsense even further? Does the Amazon Affiliates thing sound like a good idea?
