Sites vs. Pages W/Blogger+Adsense

Hello all!
Been a grateful reader here for a couple weeks now as someone completely new to the game. It is a lot to learn and a lot of hard work so far but then again anything worthwhile usually is. Plus since I'm recently unemployed I've got nothing better to do and at least this feels like I'm being somewhat productive.

On to my question...

Because of the fact that every page uses your same home page layout in blogger you can't position ads differently for different pages or use different size/shape/styles on different pages. So I created another blog and tagged a relevant word on to the title (ie. market madness ----> market madness metals)
and was going to just use a link to this as a top tab on my home site just like any other tab to any other page. So that when someone clicks it, instead of being taken to a page with the same widgets and ads and just a different body it takes them to a page with new widgets (specific to precious metals) and new ads.

Bad idea? It's a seriously imperfect solution that's for sure but given the options available for someone with just a free blogger account what do you think? Ditch it or could that work? Have say, market madness metals, market madness stocks, market madness forex, etc. that instead of being pages on my main hub, Market Madness, they are specialized to topic and with variety of ad placement/type etc.?

Whatever anyone thinks I'm happy to hear it because I know nothing myself.

Thanks!
Curtis
