Switching from static html site to wordpress

I run a static html site that I've had for several years. Over time I've built, and accumulated naturally, thousands of backlinks to the front and inner pages. As a result I'm #1 on Google for many keywords. The site is a good revenue stream.
However, it is now looking very dated and I want to switch over to Wordpress.
However, all the inner pages of a wordpress site have different urls to a static site (they don't end in .html for a start).
How can I ensure that all my existing backlinks are maintained when I switch, so I don't lose my #1 positions?
Any thoughts anyone?

One way to do it would be to do a redirect on each page to the new page,

For example build the site on ../blog and keep your site on the front end.

Then make a re-direct on each specified page to its related page on wordpress.

Might be worth researching Wordpress Plugins as there might be something you can use. I currently use All in One SEO which makes better page urls. There might be a feature inside to do what you need
