Hi!

I have recently set up a new PPC account for a USA point of sale.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips/advice to improve performance of the campaigns.

Questions I've been asking myself...

1. My account has been live for two weeks, is two weeks too early to start deleting low QS keywords?

2. With a limited budget, what position should I be aiming for in terms of ad ranking?

Any advice would be extremely beneficial.

Many thanks.

      Hi Philip,

Low Quality Scores should be addressed immediately. Though the action needed isn't always "deleting" the keyword. The primary component of QS is the CTR for the keyword/ad combination.

      Some things to consider:

Keyword Match Type - Exact match types are the preferred type, when using phrase match types you need to take care to add negative keywords to the ad group to prevent keywords that are not extremely relevant from triggering impressions. The use of Broad match types should be avoided except to test for new keyword ideas.

Keyword Relevancy - Avoid the use of keywords that are ambiguous or anything other than extremely relevant.

Compelling Ad Text - Test multiple ad text creatives using the relevant and compelling headlines, include emotional benefits and call-to-actions.

Since the prominent factor in QS ratings is CTR you need to focus on writing compelling ads that generate lots of clicks to maintain good QS.
