Starting a AdSense Site

Hello mortals,

Site & Monetizing:
I'm going to startup an authority style site, which I will be monetizing with AdSense.

Traffic:
I will be creating videos on YouTube and encourage my viewers to visit my website, by maybe giving something away or a bonus video clip or something. (I'm trying to avoid depending to much on SEO)

My site will be:
  • How to guides
  • Tips & tricks
  • Software reviews
  • Etc..
In the computer tech niche.

Question Time:
As I have no prior experience in AdSense, I would like to know, if this is even profitable or is this a 'stupid' niche? I would also appreciate if you have some tips on how to approach the YouTube strategy? My last question is the wordpress theme, I would really like to avoid using any of those 'made for adsense' kinda themes as they don't look good, because I want this website to be all about high quality. But as I said I haven't tried AdSense before, so maybe I can't avoid those themes or what?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide,
Frederik Jørgensen

For one thing Adsense is very profitable. I have been making a comfortable monthly income for years. My strategy with Adsense is having many sites and get them to average $5 a day per site. I also do very good keyword research. I build sites based on obscure niche keywords that have very low competing pages and have at least 1000 global monthly searches. If you do keyword research properly you can get ranked without any link juice. My sites are very optimized and Google seems to love them. My traffic to all my sites comes from organic search results. I have never drove traffic from youtube, so I cant really comment on that, but I have heard it does well. I also know that the computer/tech niche has some very stiff competition. If you can get traffic and monetize that traffic then it will be profitable. Good luck!!

Have you ever had any problems with adsense? Since MFA (Made For AdSense) style sites are not allowed by Google.

The main advice that I can give you is to stay away from the tech niche when doing adsense. It is just not as profitable as it once was. That demographic is mostly ad blind.

The best niches to get into are honestly some of the most boring niches to write about. And they will usually revolve around the topics of "health, wealth and love". Especially the health and wealth when it comes to adsense.

And what I would do is find one main topic, and then stick with the niches inside that topic. It makes it easier to write about.

I would pick up the 100k blueprint guide and follow it. It will go into great detail about how to best make a living from adsense.

Keep in mind there is a Google Adsense team which is in charge of selling ads and a separate Google team that is in charge of keeping the first page of Google clear and free of ad heavy sites.

If you're going to be successful at Adsense make sure to have plenty of good content on your site in order to out weigh the ads.

Geeks stopped clicking on adverts in the Summer of 2003. It's not hard to get traffic in many geek niches, but monetising content is a little more tricky.

I've started using YouTube - it's very promising.

If you get 10k hits a day you could make $8? LOL!! or set up a million sites thats would take for ever to make $5 per site per day

a whole website just for adwords... Seems like a waste of a site to me, only as a 2nd thing maybe.
Sell something to your visitors. Join a affiliate program and make real cash.

You can make so much more then what adsence is offering.

Remember that you should be VERY careful.. Because nowadays a lot of people are complaining that Adsense disabled their accounts. Try to be far away from your competitors, because each "click bombing" could be fatal for your account... Wish you all the best and Good Luck!

Very good and smart decision. Because the competition is high, and cpc is low in this niche. Better go for some medical or fitness site.

Yes, I'm glad I decided to start this thread, before entering the niche.
