XML Sitemap or not?

I have read a couple of articles that says you are better of not submitting an XML Sitemap to google webmaster tools. Can someone give me their insite on this. Should I have an XML Sitemap for my site or not? I am hearing mixed reviews.

    My personal opinion,i wasnt showing up for my site in google for my keyword,I didnt have a sitemap. I then bought a software to make professional sitemap and next day i began ranking. Just my 0.02

    You should be using an XML Sitemap to help improve your Internet visibility.

    It is a simple, effective way for you to give the search engines a list of all the URLs you want them to crawl and index.

    If your website architecture is spot on then why would you need a sitemap? If Google is finding it hard to index pages then you have poor information architecture. Design you websites better and make it easier for Google to crawl your links.

    Google does gives us Google webmasters to submit the XML sitemap but its a poor excuse for webmaster's to NOT focus on information architecture.

    Tip of the day, try and flatten your site as much as possible in a "structured" way.

    Google has a crawling budget so make it easier for Google to crawl.
