If I am suspended from adwords, will it affect my adsense account too?

Not unless they find your adsense sites are violating their terms of service.

Just received an email from Google that they're banning my site. I've not advertise there for over 2 years now.

I asked them why and received a detailed answer with the following:

" Sites once advertised through your AdWords account and found to be in
violation with our policies will always remain in your Accounts History
and deleting or pausing of those Ads will not help for Account
    Unsuspension."

Basically, Google banned my Adwords account because I advertised websites that "deemed" to be breaking/misleading from Google point of view. Damn it, how would I know that.

Yeh Google do that, in fact the site could have been completely legit according to Google 5 years ago, but since they don't like it now they ban your account. I had an account that I hadn't used in 5 years get banned.

What an ignorant and self-righteous statement!

I did "read the rules" when I began Adwords 7 years ago. I was direct linking the ads to offers/products like the "gurus" recommended back then (remember "Google Cash?") It was fine with Google, they took my money (and a lot of it), and approved my ads and the products I was promoting without problem.

Unfortunately, Google changes the rules often, and if you are "out of compliance" with their new rules, you can be penalized for it retroactively, and without warning. And they may suspend your account for doing something like direct linking to a 2nd party website/offer (think Clickbank or Amazon products) which was approved at one time but may now be "out of compliance" with the new rules. Since they never delete your history, there is always a chance you can get the hammer for something you did years ago, but cannot fix now.

Am I angry about getting my account suspended for something I did 5 years ago that is now "out of compliance" with Google's new policies? You bet I am, but unfortunately getting angry doesn't solve the problem or bring back my account. In my opinion, Google is an arrogant monopoly that needs to be broken up, like the old ATT was 30 years ago.

Yuuuuup, that is exactly what happened to me. I got my account banned last year, and then they unbanned it for some reason (never known) a month later. Now it has happened again this week. The problem is, even though you may delete the campaign and ads, the history is never deleted, and they will penalize you for something you may have done years ago, but cannot correct now.

You should be fine with the adsense account as long as you don't violate any terms and conditions.

I had no luck with my adsense. I got very low income which is quite depressing.
