      Huh?

Content has nothing to do with it...it's all about links and popularity.

Perhaps we'd be able to help more if you showed us the actual site.

Content has everything to do with it.

I can get a site to the top with content alone and hardly any backlinks to speak of. In my opinion backlinks are over-rated.

If you update your blog everyday and link to your other pages then yes I believe that will push those other pages up.

I use my blog to bring in visitors. I actually rank higher for my keywords in my blog posts than in my "website"... kinda funny. CONTENT IS KING!
Lure them in with the blog and hook them with the website.

Maybe for select keywords that have no competition. But in most cases, you need backlinks, whether you build them yourself or amass them naturally.

Just saying. You kind of make it sound like you can rank for whatever you please without any off-site SEO, and that's not true.

Anyway, firstly: meh... Global Domains International. Questionable reputation. And why anyone would splash out on something so overpriced is beyond me, but to each his own.

Second, I wouldn't go out of my way to build .edu and .gov backlinks unless they were on sites that are thematically relevant. Backlinks from these TLDs aren't intrinsically any more valuable than those from others - it's just a myth.

Third, the backlinks you get from services like UAW are woefully weak. Not saying they won't help, but they don't typically justify the effort. They're the kind built by webmasters of sites that stand little or no chance of ever acquiring any from decent, relevant and authoritative sources, and won't stand you in good stead in the long term.

I agree with you. Yes you need backlinks will help your site rank better, but I think trying to get your site to rank better is a waste of time. Yeah sounds crazy but I think there are better ways to spend your time, and that other people can be the ones creating the backlinks for you because either you have great content or they have an incentive such as earning commissions.

Ah yes... I would (mostly) agree with you, then. I just thought it sounded as though you were claiming to be privy to some 'secret inside information' / 'ninja tricks' or something (apologies - you do get a lot of people making genuinely puzzling statements around here, though :p) and I was just pointing out that ranking still depends heavily on off-site SEO in the form backlinks, whether you're actively engaged in building them or not.

I would certainly agree that going about SEO in the way many people do - with a brute-force, quantitative approach aided by tools and 'sorcery' - is often a big waste of time and certainly no substitute for creating a valuable, entertaining site from the off.

That said, I suppose it depends on how much effort is required. I've built sites in the past with pages that've ranked in positions 1-6 for some years on only a handful of backlinks, raking in a nice AdSense and Amazon income (£ thousands, to date) for what amounted to little more than a couple of days' labour. I wouldn't plan for my entire business to rely on that, but I suppose it could be a decent launchpad for some people, allowing them to raise capital for other ventures, etc. Albeit unpredictable and not for the faint of heart.

On the whole though, the road to 'SEO stardom' is fraught with disappointment for those pouring their sites' foundations with papier-mâché (crap content) reinforced with rotten twigs (irrelevant craplinks).

Also Ima keep it real with whoever this dude is... you are super clueless when it comes to SEO.... Rank on the top search engines purely on content?!! LOOL, i'm like laughin my butt off right now..

It's very obvious you have never ranked any real keyword terms that deliver high volume traffic, and convert into profitable cash.

wow, sometimes i wonder the kind of warriors that are actually on the site -_-

All depends on who is ahead of you on page 1 for one thing. But, you can overcome almost any competition if you know what google wants. It's not likely what you think and it is about to change again in a few weeks. But, basically provide interactions with your visitors. Try some of these things :

    1. Add the Sexybookmarks by Shareaholic plugin to your site - it is free.

    2. Create some press releases and submit them once a week for a while to free or paid sites.

    3. Add a FAQ page to your site.

    4. Add videos, that you made, or had made for you, to your site - worthwhile videos that teach something.

    5. Add a free ebook or instruction guide to your site - free download etc. Also add a newsletter to your site (use aweber).

    6. Post informational videos on youtube that point to your site.

    7. Get links from social sites - socialadr.com helps a lot, for many.

    8. Submit good articles to ezinearticles.

    9. Allow comments on your site (delete the spam, but allow most comments because it shows google your site is talking to people).

    10. Create a Facebook fanpage and Twitter page that link back to your site.

    11. More later ....

Do not add any paid links to your site - Google will be going after trails of paid links (e.g. networks or anything to try and boost your rank - Google wants to see naturally occurring links to your site, like from articles, editorials, posts at similar sites about your site, but not links you paid for to increase your rank - if it is trackable, then they may figure it out eventually) really soon, more than you know ...

Danny Sullivan confirmed that to me today by email, and he is one of the best on the Net regarding SEO. Basically, if you are charged for links, and in return you get links posted, yes, that’s paid linking. See also: http://searchengineland.com/guide/se...spam-penalties

It's a touchy issue, but just thought I would let you know. Please look into it yourself also.
