Ok i really am not sure what to do for the best.

I run a automotive classified site in the UK and have the opportunity to purchase the .co.uk version of my domain. (I own the .com)
I tried to purchase this when it dropped 10 months ago but got pipped at the post. The guy has now offered to sell it to me

The domain has a pr 3 is 8 years old and has 800 Backlinks (opensiteexplorer)

Question 1 - Becuase the domain dropped the registration date changed.....in google eyes does this make the domain only 10 months old?

I received the unnatural link email from Google for my .com site which is a pr4 and just 16 months old.. Im thinking of buying the .co.uk and hosting the site on this (set up 301 from the .com)

Question 2) Will my PR4 be affected as well as my rankings?

This is a massive decision for my business so need the best advice! The .co.uk isn't cheap!
Thanks

    1) Yes, for sure.
    2) I don't like your 301 idea, especially to a geographically specific TLD.

Have you considered just building a new site? 800 backlinks is nothing worth holding onto, especially with the 'taint' of the penalties.

Think you may have not got what i was saying.

My site is only for the UK market so owning a .co.uk would be a good thing.

I dont own the .co.uk domain yet...that is the one with 800 links a pr3

I own the .com which is PR4 and has 4000 backlinks....(but is only 16 months old) This is the one that received the "unnatural link" email from google. But no drop in rankings...

I wont be building a new site!!

The question was do a spend money on the .co.uk and host the site there....or do i stick with the .com domain and ride it out!
