I have used all linking stretagies with different big domains like squiddoo, ezinearticles, twitter, facebook, etc.
Pinged various pinging services.
Given good comments in various related blogs.
But no backlink to my site? No improvement in pagerank?
What to do?

Thanks & Regards,
Vikash Kumar

When did you add the backlinks?
what se 'sare you checking, google wont show all or most of the backlinks, and it cold take months to update them check them in yahoo or msn they are more accurate.

And give it time, all the pages have to be crawled by the se's then they will be added.

    Patience is needed for this.

if you post the site then we can check for you. or pm me the site and i will check

It will take time to have the links registered by google and other search engines.. and besides, what type of tool you used in tracking your backlinks?

Your plan should be to get pagerank in 6+ months, maybe even a year.

          Vikash,

Building pagerank takes time. Google only updates their pagerank for sites 3 or 4 times a year so you can't expect instant results. Also, pagerank increase is correlated with volume, as well as quality of links. You might want to use a service like isnare to submit your articles to hundreds of different article directories (instead of pinning it all on ezinearticles) etc.

G is very bad in showing all backlinks, may be on purpose? Yahoo is the most accurate. You may use add-ons like seoQuake if you use firefox. That way it will automatically show your backlinks.

Good luck and no one actually knows how G actually work. It may take months, or just matter of days. So wish you good luck and maybe days later your site ranking gets improved!

As a side note, I found that as SE leader, gmail is really BAD at searching email messages. I cannot locate my emails just sent with the exact keywords I used to search, most of the time.

This is really bad news as they claim that you do not need to organize your emails, only search them! --- when they advertise Gmail.

My advice is if your are considering using gmail, keep this in mind if you tend to receive lots of emails and you'll have hard time to locate them!

                Hi Vikash,

The two most import things to be concerned with when trying to build backlinks are:
                1. The quality and usefulness of your web page content.
                2. Promoting targeted traffic to your website.
Instead of trying create all the links yourself, get your visitors to help you. Give them a reason to link, then go get as many visitors you can, through any and all promotional efforts you can muster.

If people aren't linking naturally to your site then you need to improve your content.

yes! I really agree with you, this is the only long term technique one should follow...

Like some other people have mentioned, there's no point checking Google for backlinks by doing a link:mydomain.com query. To find out what links Google has found to your site you will need to set up Google's Webmaster Tools which is free. This shows you the incoming links, as well as anchor text and a whole bunch of other essential SEO info. Using this is a must for analyzing your SEO campaigns. You can register at: www.google.com/webmasters/tools/

Also, yahoo is great for checking your backlinks and they generally show more links than Google does. You can do this by using a link:mydomain.com query and then select the results for "Show inlinks: except from this domain" and "to: entire site: This will give you results for links to your site that don't include your internal site navigation.

Another vital tool for SEO is the firefox plugin SeoQuake - extension for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers

Finally, don't forget that not all links are equal, and your incoming links MUST be on topic for them to get any weighting. 1 single link on a high PR page that matches your site will be given far more juice than 100 links on sites that are not related to yours. You should also try and get links that are surrounded by relevant content, and not on pages that are full of links to other non related sites... Google will place less relevance on your link if it is associated with non-related content.

                    Hope this helps!
                    Alex
