These private blog networks are fast becoming useless, from what I hear. Google is supposedly targeting them and de-indexing these private blog networks, at least that's the rumblings going on yesterday and today.

private blog networks are not useless. Depending on how they set up their networks. PUBLIC blog networks are like a ticking bomb.

You say PotAYto, I say PoTAUTo.

You are correct, but most people have been referring to networks like BMR as "private" blog networks. Because you have to pay to use them. Because they are owned by private entities, etc. etc. Therefore, not freely accessible to anyone in the public.

The blog networks you are talking about perhaps need another term, or more explanation when referring to them.

Correct. G is de-indexing private blog networks and sites like Linkvana. I don't think it's a good idea to get started with them. Here's part of an email I received this evening.

This was probably prompted by the recent announcement
from the Build My Rank network (BMR) that they are closing
down. That in turn is because BMR got de-indexed by Google this
    week.

And Google is now targeting the ALN (authority link network)
that has had 25% of its sites de-indexed so far. Rumors are that
LinkVana could be the next target.

This has a lot of people worried, because they have been
depending on these networks for their site rankings. As
I've always said, using private blog networks is a BIG mistake,
exactly because they provide a very easy target for big-G.

The big mistake is being completely dependent on any single service - you would think that a lot of those people would have at least had backups setup in case of something like this happened even if they weren't actively using the backups at that time.

        Yes.

        BuildMyRank.com – It’s Been a Great Run!!

If you don't think they have been deindexed, perhaps you should email them telling them not to close down like they are

        StevenUK --

Thanks for making me laugh! What they mean by BMR being deindexed is BMR's network of blogs getting deindexed. Therefore, if you're using BMR and your post(s) are on a site that is part of the BMR network and it was deindexed by Google, your site will suffer in terms of SERPs.

        Cheers!

Back on topic, I tried the 2 week trial of linkvana and was very disapointed. I sent through 50+ articles/posts with varied anchor text, and did around 150 blog comments through them in that period. As far as I know, there was no change in my rankings.

Probably the most useful thing was their new facebook/twitter/social bookmark thing. Thanks for 30 facebook "likes" linkvana! But yeah, not paying $150 a month for that.

Their footprints are easily detectable so you might want to wait and see how it goes for the next few months.

Linkvana has been great and certainly does make a difference in your serp results.
However in the current climate where BMR network has been largely de indexed its probably wise to sit on the fence for a while and see what transpires with other article publishing sites

    No.
Just because the main site has not been deindexed does not mean anything. Google did not go after that, they went after all of the blogs that they were using to post their content to. This included their blogs, and those that people had submitted to.

As with ALN, I know people that have seen their blogs die in the last two weeks, and all of them were associated with them and their blog network.

BMR getting deindexed might mean the end for the road for Linkvana as well... Who knows, these 2 networks will merge sans their deindexed blogs and name it "Buildvana"

I ran scrapebox index scan for my posts on linkvana and out of 141 published with them i am able to see around 133 in index, so i think linkvana is not that much effected with mass deindexing like other majors.

Thanks you all guys for your opinion on LinkVana.
My decision is not use them, i think its not wise and worth to use if they are on Google's target at the moment.
    thanks guys

I just signed up for the 2 week trial of Linkvana for $5. I have a very good mix of backlinks (articles, blog comments, blog posts, social bookmarks, wikis, forum profiles, etc.) but I do not have very many high PR or "dofollow" links. I am hoping that mixing in a few Linkvana links will actually increase my diversity and boost my SERPs. It's a little grey-hat, sure, but I don't have the desire to build my own blog network at this juncture.

Linkvana functions very well for people with experience and those who are looking to boost the total amount of traffic to their website. However, it could be somewhat inappropriate for people without the relevant experience, and Google will crack down on this amazing idea sooner or later.

I tried this service out based on what I read on this forum. Some people get good results, there's no denying that. As to whether or not the sites in this network are being treated the same as those on BMR, I couldn't say.

What I DO know is that since using this service, the sites I've pointed links to have either seen no improvement or have taken a nose dive.

In the current environment, I think that I'm simply going to pay for an ArticleSamruai gig on Fiverr each day in order to get a bunch of basic links pointed at the site and will hunt down individual pages with High PR on non-wordpress authority site blogs.

It feels like a nightmarishly long process akin to panning for gold, but at least the links stick, have real power, and don't cost anything other than your time.

    Linkvana is an out-and-out rip off. I used them for more than 18 months. Read my scathing review of Linkvana here - too long to post here;

Linkvana: an honest review from a long term user - VisiSearch SEO Blog | Winning SEO Strategies and Tactics

It got worse after I wrote that post, with Linkvana admitting to me in writing that they only review about 20% of all articles / posts sent for distribution in the network. They have literally zero systems in place to keep spam out of their network. Google will get them.

Love how you rant and rave about how awful they are, then include an affiliate link at the bottom for their service.

      My affiliate link does come with a heavy disclaimer;

"If you want to take the risk of dealing with them, you can claim your free five day trial here. Personally, I wouldn’t bother."

If anyone reading my review is stupid enough to join Linkvana, I'm happy to take the commission for sending them there!

I do not think that you have to hire this service, you have to do white hat SEO because google discourages that kind of tactics and consider it black hat SEO.

Some strange posts on this thread, no 26 and no 28 ?

I am testing linkvana on a number of domains, too early to come to any conclusions although my first impression is that it's pretty expensive and the quality of content accepeted is poor which could create problems in the long term.

Always the danger that it could follow BMR but you should already know this and keep your options open.

I am a long time user of Linkvana but have just unsubscribed.
I did some checks via copyscape to find some of my posts and the results were not good.
Subsequently I have asked them some serious questions ( on 10th June 2012 ) which they have not answered to date.
As in the past they have always answered queries within 48 hours I have taken the silence to mean that they have no answer.
Consequently I have ended my subscription.

Linkvana allows you access to their network of high page rank domains so that you can post your content and build links pointing back to your website. There are hundreds of products and services on the market which claim to be effective at creating high quality back links pointing to your website and in helping you get on Page One of Google. One such service is Linkvana, but does it really work or is Linkvana a waste of time and money.
