Adsense Ad pages opening in a new window

Hi,
As a user and looking at sites, sometimes I do press Adsense ads, I must admit, not often, the last two opened in a new window. I thought that was impossible or may be possible but very naughty.

Can anyone share their knowledge please?

    It just depends on how you have your browser settings on YOUR computer set.

      Probably NOT browser settings. You can add a line of
      code in the head section to globally open all links in
      new windows. Dumb idea. It's against google TOS, and
      it's really a lousy user experience because many people
      do not know to close a window. Pretty soon, some can
      have multiple windows opening from your page. Lousy
      user experience.

      But when I say against TOS, it's against TOS for you
      and me. Big time adsense users may actually have the
      option, as dumb as that sounds. I think research has
      shown that opening a new window is not as good
      for results. Some people feel it takes over their
      browsing and quickly close the window.

    I actually like it opening in the new window, so I can keep where I was.

    But if it is against the TOS for the little guy, only a fool would do it.

    Only premium adsense publishers have the option to open adsense ads in a new window. The average joe doesn't have that luxury.
