Time.....we all have a limited amount of it

hypothetical question, which do you think would earn more money?

20 micro-niche sites of 7-8 pages, with marketing efforts focused on article submissions and blog comments to create backlinks (maybe have a general theme linking 6-7 of the sites, so three general themes)

2 or 3 passion sites of 30-40 pages, more blogging type sites on general subjects that aim to slowly increase authority, market in the same way

Surely the 20 micro niche sites would yield more revenue while the few passion sites would be more fun to work on but ultimately less rewarding financially

Is this analysis correct?

Well, If you got a good budget then you can go with great sites or we usually
call it as authority site. As you need to understand is, Authority site were build as
long term kind of deal. So you gotta be more patient, but it's gonna be great
investment especially when you actually got pretty good knowledge to dominate
    a niche with it.

Regarding Micro niche sites, without any doubt is definitely an option since it's still
working well especially for people on tight budget. It's also recommended for
starter/newbie and for one who's eager to see fast ROI regarding their investment.

Sure 20 Micro Niche Sites could be yield more revenue for short term, but if you
actually invest your money well on building authority sites and make it right then
authority sites is definitely more profitable in the long run.

    Hopefuly it help

Would you rather start ten different grocery stores in your town, knowing that most of the things you sell are not quite eatable ... or would you go for starting the number one grocery store - the one that really creates value .. the number one everybody in your town loves to go shopping in?

I think this is a very clear post. One of the best i have seen today. To put it more simple its just Quality over Quantity

Quality sites, like everyone says, are the way to focus for a longer haul.

However, consider not putting all your eggs in one basket too. What if your authority site that you've consolidated effort and money into suddenly is banned or drops in rankings? Your flagship projects income will suffer and your overall income online will too.

On the other hand, by creating 10 sites for example, with even half dropping in rankings you'll still have a footing to push forward. Granted, income is variable depending on the sites quality; although if you have 5 smaller sites going, you can always gear them toward being authorities on their own one day!

In short, my opinion is to diversify and expand your projects. Don't rely on just one if it's your sole income!

    Hi
I belive that quality is better than quantity, and what you do by passion brings more profit than what you do from interest.

I agree that quality is always better than quantity but.... you can also build quality micro sites. For some reason people seem to think these fall off the radar after a short period of time and generally they do. My micro sites are designed for the long haul and stay at the top for over two years and never fall off.

Spend the time, do the on page optimization right, the off page linking and traffic building once a month but moreover provide good content to keep your bounce rate down and they will stay there.

Don't ask for the domains or URL's... not going to happen. I am not looking for some gun slinger to see how good they are... looking to see if they can knock them off

With the recent Google changes I'd lean more towards larger sites.

No more 1-10 page sites. I'd say instead of doing these types of sites, lean more towards having a broad, but niche related, domain and targeting keywords on your posts / pages. I know this isn't new to most people. But if you've got a broad domain about products for parents, you can easily have 25+ pages of content, product reviews, tips, etc.

I think gone are the days of "howtogetridoffliesinmykitchen.com" with 2 articles.

Micro niche sites are worth building in case you want some quick cash but not the real big money over time. So i will favor low number but the quality sites.

Do both. Don't ask other people what works for them. Do what works for you. Test and improve. Test and improve.

This, personally I would work on 1 "authority" site and on many niche websites. Diversity is the key IMO. Doing this, not only will you have the opportunity to get an authority site ranking (and hopefully earning you more money than your niche sites), but you'll get cashflow from your niche websites (they should be easy to rank for) AND since you don't seem like and experienced SEO, all I can say is that these niche website will give you WAY more value than you think, not only in term of easy earners, but in term of experience with keyword research, competition analysis, etc.

I have 40 micro niche sites and most got slammed recently so I'd definitely aim more towards quality rather than quantity. Wish i'd started out with an authority site that I could build and nurture that would eventually yield regular monthly incomes.
You only have to look at some of the authority sites that sell on Flippa that go for tens of thousands of $$$, you wont get that return for a thin micro niche site.

Just depends on what you want to do & how much time/money you want to commit to the project.

Personally, I would do 1 authority site and build niche sites off of that one.

I would start 20 sites. See which ones show promise. Focus on those to make them as high quality as I can. Let the other's simmer, who knows... they may turn out to be winners later on too. Take some of the profits and outsource another 20 sites... keep looking for winners.
