Another Google Adwords Banned Thread - with a twist
- SEO |
Has anyone had a "Advertising Violation" ban? Its my understanding this is more harsh than a landing page violation and not possible to fix.
Here is what my adwords accounts says when I login: Your Google AdWords account has been suspended for violation of Google's Advertising Policies in this or a related account
For anyone who wants to read my long story here I go.....Over 6 years ago I used my adwords account to promote some websites which Google viewed as "Get Rich Quick" or "Make Money Online" type of websites. From what I remember I got a few suspended ads but was able to fix them and get them running again. I did not think or know I was in violation of anything that would justify a lifelong ban without appeal. At this time I was in school and didn't think much about it. It was some easy beer money. I graduated in 2006 and stopped using adwords then since I had a full time job and no time or interest in playing as an online marketer. My accounts were all paused and appeared to be in good standing.
Fast forward to now (2012) and I have my own legit brick and mortar business I want to promote with adwords. I logged into my account to find the message that my account was suspended for site policy violations (note this is different from advertising violations). Also note I did not receive any emails or updates from Adwords since I paused my accounts in 2006. So I emailed Google and actually got a nice reply from a nice girl who told me if I made major changes to site XYZ that they would consider removing my ban. I then spent about 3 weeks completely redoing my site including adding 10+ pages of new custom content that I researched and wrote myself. It was a lot of work (and I have two newborn kids at home).
I then sent the new site to my nice Google friend. A day latter I got the message my account was now suspended for advertising violations and this ban was permanent and there was no appeal and not to contact them again. I have not run any ads since 2006.
So after I changed my site to comply with landing page violations it appears that someone at Google dug deeper into my adwords history to find the old "get rich quick" type ads and changed my ban from a site policy violation to an advertising violation.
Has anyone had experience with this? I think my last and only option is to beg Google and apologize for my past behavior and ask them to give me a second chance. Hoping that will work.
