Maybe vertical markets is not the correct terminology. But, here is an example of what I would like a KW tools to do. If I am researching "knee pain" I expect to get all the related keywords. However, what about from a more 3D view? Such as "runner health" or basketball fitness or injury prevention.. etc etc . Basically other niches that may benefit from knee pain relief, injury or prevention. Is there a tool that has this hint of artificial intelligence to go that deep? I know most of the basic tools like wordtracker do not do anything like this, nor does Adwords tool.

Hi nofearman, you might want to check this; jaaxy.com
Its a bit expensive ($19 per month), but if I remember right there is $1 one month trial
I`m not using it anymore because of that price

I purchased this tool and have had it for about four months now. It really cooks up some keywords quickly. What took me an hour now only a quarter of the time, picking up more tasks than other kw tools. Highly recommended! Extremely accurate in the numbers not putting all its eggs in one basket, and the time-saving features built-in, I find it highly advantageous to have a paid tool like this. It is an investment in time and efficiency.

Well, you don't need a keyword tool for "vertical markets". In real life, a vertical market falls inline with the supply chain within a market domain. A horizontal market speaks to substitutes within a domain. In Internet Marketing speak, a vertical market is a real-life horizontal market.

I have a mind map and system and process I've put together over the years..it's mostly built around asking questions. Such as...(this is just from the top of my head)

Why would a person need this...
What internal or external factor would have them search for this?
What could have happened to them for them to search for this?
What could they have been doing to themselves? (actions, lack of actions, situations, accidents, etc)
What age group would need this and why?
What problem would cause someone to look for this?

Hope that helps a little. Basically I have path I follow on my map based on my answers. The path leads to the next set of drill down questions.

Once you have that figured out then you can dig in using keyword tools to get the specifics...

P.S. If you want I'll post actual stuff from my map later in the day.
