Can Google Dance Hit Any Time?

I have a site that is over two years old that I'm focusing a lot of my time on right now. I'm building links, content, and all that.

One particular page on the site that I'm promoting heavily was sitting in the #7 or #8 position for months like a rock. Now, I'm adding content that with contextual content that relates with on-site links in an effort to promote that page.

I've also decided to give Linkvana a go and have been consistently building links every day for a week now. In the last 4 days, the position of the page for that keyword has gone from #7 to #10, the next day up to #5, the next day down to #10 again, the next day up to #5 and today down to #10 again.

It seems like I'm experiencing the google dance, but that doesn't makes sense as the site is established with more than 800 pages indexed and was registered almost 3 years ago. I thought the Google dance only applied to new sites.

Any insight?

It can dance at any time, especially if you've been adding content / adding new links. Just keep going for it, and eventually it will settle into a new position (hopefully higher).

its means Google wants to give you that 5th place rankings... just keep up the work and it will sort it self soon.

Also remember that not all Google's data centers are in sync, so one search you may be using a different server, and another and so on..
Normally fixes it self in 4 days to a week in my experiences.

I've had sites fluctuate in rankings that were over a year old when I created new backlinks. Definitely doesn't apply to just new sites.

Yes google dance can hit at anytime, and sometimes it can be caused by bounce rate. Google wants lowest bounce rate result first, as it is most valuable for searchers.

    Cheers!
