Ok, so here is the thing, I have a blog that is not focused on just one or two keywords. We write 2 or 3 articles everyday and each article, albeit being on the same niche, has different keywords from the others.

This means that in one month and a half (this is how old is our blog) we have written 100 articles, and according to google webmaster tools our site has had 27000 impressions on 1361 different keywords. Of those 1361 keywords we are ranking top 150 for 100 or more of them and top 20 for 11 of them.

So far, I think we have been focusing our keywords efforts in a wrong manner. Basically we are using SEO services for 5 broader keywords that could catter to all the content. The 2 easier of this keywords are now seating on 1st and 2nd page but are only 1000 exact searches per month and are bringing us little traffic.

Oh, I forgot to say that we are not a website offering a product but a website offering quality information. This means that we are not looking so much for quality but quantity and 1000 exact searches per month on a not buying keyword means nothing to us.

What we want to achieve
To rank top 10 on two or three keywords per article. This keywords are mainly low-competition and with a low-search volume. Some of them are tougher keywords but not the majority.

If you were in our position what link building strategy would you follow?

For starters I would hit each article with a bunch of social bookmarks, you can use onlywire or socialmonkey(free) and then setup Facebook, twitter, G+ and post a link to each article and start getting followers.

That is exactly what I started doing!

Maybe I need to do something to give more authority to the website itself (edu, goc or wiki links?)

you say you are not looking for quality but quantity well in my opinion you should definitively worry about quality.

By this I meant that we are not looking for 3 gems of a keyword that will solve our lives. We are instead looking to rank for hundreds of keywords that one by one wouldn't be good enough but all together they are.

Not sure if you've set it up in categories or something alike but I would start building quality links on category level so that the categories can rank the innerpages with the internal anchor linking stuff.

Building links to 100's of pages seperatly is just not doable unless you go the more spammy way and I dont think that will do any good to the overall strength of your site.

        Just my 2 cents.

Actually, with all of the recent updates, I tend to think that quantity > quality in this day and age. Of course, the minimum quality level has been raised, but I had some very high quality sites tank during the recent updates, and some of my smaller sites seemed to keep their rankings. I typically think that you should have a good mix of quality and quantity sites to spread out the risk as much as possible.

But the think is that I don't know how to effectively aim for 3 new keywords everyday

Ranking for hundreds of keywords is NOT very easy to achieve... My advice is better to try to get a good ranking for 10-15, NOT for 100... Well, if you want to do this, you need a lot of work. You should get backlinks from High authority websites and use DIFFERENT keywords to rank for each one. Also a very strong Forum and Article marketing is RECOMMENDED! Blog commenting is also required. Then the quality of work depends on the competition of the keywords
