Should I cancel my UAW subscription or not?

Hi All,

I'm interested in hearing from the forum as to if you feel as though UAW is a viable form of link building going forward. I unfortunately was affected with the most recent Google algorithm update and am in the process of re-evaluating my SEO strategy. My concern is that BMR was just the beginning and that Google is intent on shutting down all of the link building sites sooner or later.

I'm struggling with whether or not I should cancel my subscription, as I feel as though the spun articles that UAW distributes are high quality articles and allow me to build up some of the inner pages of my website in a fairly cost effective manner.

I also like that you can specify the number of articles that are distributed per day to make it appear to be more natural. If done correctly, this shouldn't raise any red flags with Google.

On the flip side, if UAW is deindexed at some point in the future, I'm concerned that all of my efforts will be for not. It was painful to see how far I dropped in the rankings when BMR was deindexed.

Additionally, it doesn't appear as though the article directories and blogs where the articles are being posted are highly correlated to my category, and the concern is that Google is placing a special emphasis on links from relevant sites going forward. If this is the case, I won't receive much benefit going forward from these links.

Lastly, in general, it seems as though I'm not seeing the type of results from UAW that I saw months ago. For example, it was common for me to shoot up to page one for a selected keyword after an article or two on the subject. While I'm still seeing some benefit, it seems to be more along the lines of a couple to few places in the rankings versus pages.

I apologize for the long post and rambling, but hopefully I was able to get my point across. Thanks in advance for your time and comments. I really appreciate it!

It seems no one has responded. This article is at number one for "uaw deindexed".

I went back and forth on uaw. They seemed to help a little, but they also got one of my sites banned. I had spent a lot of money on quality directories and some uaw articles made the site drop from page two off the face of the earth.

I have cancelled them. They use a lot of spun content. They also have only three resource boxes per article. That puts you at big risk of using too much of the same anchor text.

They need to adapt their business model and stop recommending to people that they submit 25 articles per day. That used to be effective, but now will cause your site to be penalized. I'm not sure if my site will even come back. If it does not, I just wasted $800 on directories, not to mention hundreds of hours of my time.

The search engines reward you for unique, quality, and up-to-date content, based upon what the user is searching for. That should be your goal. This means that you either need to write content yourself or hire someone to do it for you. Also, a lot of article directories have been "Google slapped" in recent times due to all the algorithm changes.

They are okay to use as a means of getting initial traffic to your site, but should shouldn't be using article directories as landing or product review pages. All the important content like that needs to go on your own site. As your site grows and starting getting backlinks naturally, you won't even need them at all.

Man, directories nowdays are a big risk,in my opinion you just wasted your budget , I really think your site disappeared because of that.
If you use uaw make sure:
      - Article must be 500+ unique content and rewrite it to submit.
      - Submit max 10 article a day.
      - Anchor text must be different(don't use always home, main keyword)

UWA is not the same as BMR, bear in mind

      Regards,

Maybe we have no idea what UAW is. Around here is it the United Auto Workers labor union. And when I googled UAW, that too is what came up.

So what is the UAW about which you are wondering?

      LOL @ Don

UAW is Unique Article Wizard. You submit your article and hand spin it twice and they submit it to article networks and blog networks. They have many different blogs owned by people all over the world.

It used to work a charm, but now I think it is not. I've been reading about people having a site de-indexed after adding the plugin for UAW.

Do you guys submit the same article to lots of different directories?

I definitely agree with the consensus that it is worth the time and effort to just do your research and develop legitimate expertise in your niche. Writing is actually pretty fun.

I have a degree in Chinese medicine. I write all my own articles and do enjoy it.

I had read that ezinearticles was a waste of time and that you would need thousands of those to rank a site.

I think I'm going to go the guest blogging route. I can write a good article in 15 minutes, so that is a lot of backlinks..

I think all such link farms (that's what they are, let's be real here) are on the chopping block. Only a matter of time.

In a nutshell, the better way forward is to write (or have written) an excellent longer piece of content and offer it to authority sites in your market (not a direct competitor, though) for a link to your site. Think relevance and quality, not quantity. Of course, make sure your site has very good, helpful content for your visitors. That's the name of the game if you choose to play by Google's new rules (version #4,319,105).

On my sites thus far I used Spun Articles with UAW linking directly to my money site and my websites (even though they are brand new) went up in the rankings with the last update.

I don't think this will last though which is why I am trying to get away from it all together, or in the meantime build a second layer to my site with web 2.0 article directories other blogs.. ect.

I would cancel that subscription for sure, unless........

you like throwing your money away each month.

I know of at least 4 kick a$$ WSO's that can easily produce 1000% better results than what UAW can do currently for the same amount of money or less.

I agree that you should just cancel that too - write all of your own articles one by one so they are very high quality and completely unique.

Well name them please, because there is so much BS in that forum it's hard to cut through.

I think that I did two big stupid things:
I used exact match anchor text
I had too many articles submitted at once.

Of course, this was all OK a few months ago. The recommended article submission was 25 per day. I did that to a friends site and she went up in rankings. She has an old site though.

There is link velocity, which they are targeting and using too much anchor text.

I did an analysis of liverdoctor.com, I knew she would not have done any linking, because she is an author. Most of the links are just the domain name. The rest are a wide variety of terms, with about 10 to 20% links to her articles.

Is anyone here familiar with submityourarticle.com?? They submit to article sites first, then to a network where you have the option to not spin.

Everything seems so risky right now. I'm just glad I did not make 100 sites and then lose them all.

It seems official. Everything I ranked with UAW has tanked. My site is not showing up for any of the keywords I targeted with that.

It looks like Google has completely devalued all those links.

I found UAW to provide a boost, but a weak boost at that. I may investigate massive blasts at 1st tier links though. I heard some people say they work for that.

I think I'm going to cancel UAW today... I have no idea if it played a part in my sites tanking, but I just think these days it's not worth the risk. We need to start getting smarter with our backlinking.

It's a safe and logical conclusion that it DID cause your rankings to tank.

thanks to all the helpful comments about "just writing your own articles and do your own link building."

Thats great advice if you have 1 or 2 blogs, but for serious IM ppl trying to make a living its impossible.

I've spent thousands of bucks over the past 3 yrs spinning content for UAW so it pains me to get rid of it, as i thought i could build up a collection and just repeat submissions every few months.

I would say to be safe dont link to your money site through UAW. But then $67 a month is alot to pay for 2nd tier backlinks.

UAW themselves have been conspicuously quiet about this over the past few months, which kind of makes me suspect they are just milking it for as long as they can before the game is finally up.

One thing for sure, UAW is not the future, if you arent in it already i wouldn't recommend it; it's too expensive and really time consuming to do properly.

While you can get away with using it now, I think blog networks are too risky and inevitably those links will be sniffed out by Google. Even using them as second tier links.. I feel that tactic will eventually be discovered so it all depends how valuable these sites are. If you can make enough short term on them to make it worth while then go for it, but if they're client sites or something that needs to stick around then I wouldn't waste time/money on it.
