Creating Your Own Private Network

Hi All,

I was wondering if I can have some advice. In regards to creating your own private blog network, how do you link to your own site. Do you place an article on the home page and link from the blog post there? Do you then never change this blog post so the link is permanenet and just add sub pages to the blog to create more links? Or do you constantly change the blog post on the home page of the blog adding a new blog post every couple of weeks with another link to your money site? Or do you put an anchor link somewhere as some sort of advertisement? I can't seem to find this info anywhere. Thanks, Seamy

  • You could link in the links section in your side bar and place links in your posts. I would keep adding posts that link to your money site using contextual links. Then leave the posts there. Just keep adding more content.

Cheers mate. So I should keep adding blog posts to the home page of the blog, making it bigger and bigger, as well as links from my side bar. Sounds like a plan.

Public networks use the blueprint of posting 10+ posts on the homepage because there are many users. For a real private network you can create more of a static type site where you add pages and ensure the page links are in your sidebar - this will pass PR from the homepage to the inner-pages.

You can also maybe create like 3-4 static posts on your homepage if you want!

Don't limit your OBLs to just your money sites, link out to authority and related sites for a more natural feel and you can also build-up other tier 1 properties with your network.

I do posts with links within the content normally. For my high PR network I keep posts and links to a minimum and sticky the posts with my most important links to the homepage. That way I can also post content with no links to reduce the footprint but that content won't push my linked posts that off the homepage. Just remember though in order to reduce the footprint do things differently with certain sites and experiment. There is no definite right way.

First thing is buy some domains from different registars and enable privacy. Find different hosts (don't host your network on the same hosting company) and install different software, from wordpress, html or whatever. Do not use default themes!

Do not link your network together!

Now write unique articles (atleast 300 words long) and post a unique article to each site (do not add your links - add a wikipedia link to various post, other posts don't add any links - mix it up). What you are doing now is building some google trust. Keep doing this for a month or two.

While you do the above, submit your site to digg and other reputable social networks. Add your site's feed to feed directories and web directories. This is to get your link out there for spiders to find.

After a few weeks after that (in 3 months after building your network), you can start adding your link to your posts. Be sure to vary the keyword and deep linking. Add Wikipedia links in (some of) your posts so things look natural. Always add images to posts and add videos when possible.

For your own private network, you can publish content when you want. Just don't use spun or duplicate content and you will be okay. Follow my steps and your network will be safe and you will start seeing high-end results in six months to a year after building your network from scratch. Remember, it's important to build quality links to your network, just don't spam them.

I strongly suggest doing everything manually.

Thanks Guys. I have been real lazy about backlinking, using BMR, Article spinning and blasting profile/blog comment links for ages. Time to put some real work in and hopefully I'll see results. This really is a class forum when it comes to peer support. Feels like we are all in it together. Thanks again.

To add some extra variety: Noone forces you to use wordpress only for a private network...

Don't do it. You don't need a private network. Just post unique content on your feeder sites and unique content on your money site you should be fine....

Im not talking about anything major in size. Maybe 20 sites in total and I will try and get them ranked in their own right. If I make them useful and get traffic for long tail keywords, I should be ok. Should I put affiliate links on the actual blogs to make it look more natural? As I think google might wonder why I was putting all this effort in to get nothing in return.

One other thing as well. Should I adopt this same approach to my web2.0 blogs? Forexample, should I have posts with no links and posts with links to wikipedia and other more established wesbites.
