A real Strategy to Find Good AdSense Keywords

The problem is that many people look at those lists (eg the one from adsenseheaven.com) and look at the CPC/Cost Per Click.

What they dont realize is that the CPC (and derived AdSense payout) does NOT take into account search volume. "Highest paying adsense keywords"-lists do NOT take this into account.
We need to turn our "highest paying adsense keywords" into a "most profitable keywords" list!

In other words: A keyword which would pay you $20/click is *worthless* if there is no search volume for this keyword.

Therefore, we do not look at the CPC value, but rather at the "estimated daily expediture" column which combines search volume * CPC.

This step alone eliminates many of the so called "high paying keywords" due to low search volume.

The other important tip would be to ignore the first 1000 of those lists totally due to oversaturation.

What i do:

Get list, Get Excel.

Delete first 1000 keywords.

Sort list after "Est. Daily Expenditure" to get PROFITABLE keywords, and not only "expensive" keywords.

Then i have a list of about 8000 or so keywords, and then cut the list eg. i cut all keywords at the end where est. daily expenditure < $1000.

(Optionally, i also delete all from the list containing "insurance", "debt", "loans", "mortgage" because i am annoyed by that niche )

At the end i get a list of +/- 300 keywords which

a) pay well
b) are profitable

From a list of originally 15.000 keywords.

Further KW research can be done using those ~300 base keywords, eg. checking for competition, digging into longtail, derive more keywords from any of those base keywords and so on.

Example:

Using the above method it will be obvious that "asbestos" is one of the profitable keywords.
However, if you go on Google AdWords KE tool and use "asbestos" you will see that all those high CPC/paying "asbestos"-related keywords and searches are rather related to asbestos lawyers, asbestos cancer and legal issues related to this (Probably related to mesothelioma.)

So..a mistake would be to make a generic site about "asbestos".
Its not really "asbestos" per se which you would need to target but rather the surrounding medical/legal issues, where to get legal help if you got sick from asbestos at work....etc..
