I webmaster a top level blog at a Major US University (around 50k students). The link to the blog is in the same format as:

h t t p : / / w w w .usuniversity.edu/blogname
It has a Page Rank of 8. I am considering selling inbound links either through text link advertisements, or by selling article space for inline links via guest posting. How much do you guys think I could sell these inbound links for on a monthly/quarterly/yearly basis?

What does? The home page of the site, or the page on which you're proposing to sell backlinks?

I have a couple of .edu blogs of my own, which sound very similar to what you're talking about here, but the linkjuice of their backlinks isn't anything special at all. (And why would they be? Page ranks attach to pages, not to websites). I wouldn't dream of selling backlinks on them, anyway, especially not with Google on the de-indexation rampage at the moment against "bought links" ...

But in any case, the linkjuice value of any backlink on any page of the web is going to be inversely proportional to the number of backlinks on the page, and as that increases (by selling them), their SEO benefit will markedly decline.

That said, you may have no great difficulty selling them anyway, if you really want to, because many people don't quite appreciate that "being on a .edu site" doesn't in itself make backlinks worth anything extra.

If the blog itself has PR8 then you will easily find people willing to hand over the money.

If I were you though I wouldn't sell them! You can get caught, but if you
really want to take advantage of your position, then build a relevant site for high traffic keywords and link to yourself.

Disclaimer: I Do Not Recommend Any Of This

PR8 in an EDU domain, guest posting. $300/month easy. That page will have a PR4 in the next update. I just hope the credibility stays though. If you do decide, put a limit on how many the site will accommodate.

Actually if Google decides that you're selling backlinks on it, that page can be de-indexed tomorrow - it doesn't have to get as far as "the next update". (Have you seen any of the recent threads about the sudden de-indexation of entire private blog networks, etc.?).

Assuming it ends up on a pr n/a page and not knowing how much you are selling then I would pay $5 or perhaps $10 for it. Nothing monthly, we're not talking about homepage links here at pages that already have PR
