Is this niche domain name way too long?

For example's sake, let's say the keyword I am researching is "Chocolate Cake'.

Is 'whatisachocolatecake' way too long to be an effective niche domain?

The Search to Competition ratio is excellent for this particular keyword phrase.

Thanks,
Aaron

    Hi,

If you're not looking for any type in traffic, then it's not too long.

That's not too long if that's the keyword you're going for.

Or you can just create something like ChocolateCakeHub.com and target dozens of chocolate cake keywords.

Its a good domain in my opinion and i have seen many larger domains than this too. I am not going to say its short but its not long too. It can be registered in my opinion for your purpose.

Long or short is not a matter, domain name should easy to remember to their viewers.

If you are going for strictly organic search volume, it does not need to be easy for the viewers to remember...

I don't think it's too long, I have seen longer domain names that do just fine, I have a domain this longer than that, and is keyword rich and does just fine.

No, see one of my domains in the signature. I am getting traffic so it must be working. Its not to long.

As long as it gets searches, it doesn't matter. I have some freaking loooong domain names and they do just fine ;-)

If you don't change direction, you'll end up where you're going.

No, but I'd prefer a shorter & "broader" niche related domain.

Example: "chocolatecakezone.com" (Sounds awful, I know. But it's just an example.)

    chocolatecakezone.com/what-is-chocolate-cake/
    chocolatecakezone.com/best-chocolate-cake-recipe/
    etc.

You should be fine with that domain but probably want to go with something with the words "Chocolate cake" in it that's a bit shorter.

JSProjects up top wrote up a great example of a more brandable name. Just takes some thought.
