Noob indexing question..

Ok.. So I have a really noob question, and I'm sorry if it has already been discussed, but I couldn't find what I wanted to know when I searched (too many results lol).

How often should I submit my site to yahoo, msn and google? I use yahoo small business right now, and it gives me an option to submit to all 3 at once. It lets me do it every 48 hours, but is that too often?

Help!

    Every 48 is definitely too often. I would say that the maximum I would submit your site would be once per week, but one I work with clients I tend to stick with once per month, and once every time a major change is made to the site.

    Distribute your RSS feeds to RSS directories, that will send more spiders coming from more sources into your website.

    Otherwise, just bulk ping every 3 days.

    If by submit you mean to be included in their search index, I wouldn't do any submitting. I've heard that the 'Add URL' feature with Google actually makes it take longer for your site to be included. Just do some social bookmarks or link to your site from your forum signature and it should be indexed in no time.

    Do you mean submitting to the search engines or do you mean pinging your site to get indexed faster? If pinging, every 2 days is way too often. This can actually have adverse effects on indexing.

    Yeah, I don't understand most of what you all just said.. I really am noob to getting a website noticed. I can build one, but that's about it. Lol.

    I don't know how to ping, I don't know anything about RSS feeds, and.. Well... Pretty much everything else.

    That's why I've been browsing this site in hopes to find some good advice to help.
