Squidoo - content linking back to your web page

I've built some websites. Have started social backlinking.

I want to start backlinking via Squidoo & Hubpages etc.

Should I:

a) Copy all my content - verbatim - and throw occasional links back to my pages
b) Copy extracts of my webpages, chop & change sentences - and throw occasional links back to my pages
c) Write a whole new article - and probably throw occasional links back to my pages (haha)

...I am open to suggestions

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks Yukon. How much content though (amount of words)?

If I want to submit to a number of sites (Squidoo, Hubpages etc) should I write new content every time?

definitely you must write new content otherwise its time wasting because Google hates Duplicate Content.
        Google want quality Links
        Write minimum 200-250 words article
but i want to guide you further, if you want to write an article then start with www.blogger.com because its owned by Google and if Google finds a newly written article that have not more than 2-3 links then it will increase a great deal of the rankings of that links instantly

Squidoo lens is the best and very good method of marketing and ranking you site. But you have to create a good lens optimize title tag, description same as you do in onpage seo.

You really shouldn't have to build links to your lenses if you are making them right.

If you make 10 lenses on one category link them all together.
As far as links go just share them on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and call it a day. Squidoo should take care of the rest.

110% Nonsens, i have domains filled with dup content that i use for lead generation, i use a plugin called " local pages ninja" (LPN), i have created one (1) article of about a 1000 words... i have creates 500+ postings with that one article... the only difference in the articles is city + Niche, but the rest of the article is 97% the same content on one domain.

About 80% of these articles rank in the top 3 of google for city + niche, dup content is a myth, even if you have dup content on the same domain, i know there are more LPN users here and they will backup the statement i make here

Squidoo will kill the page if it is duplicate content. I write a fresh intro with one link and an image to one keyword.

I write another text mod with fresh content with another keyword.

I feed my RSS feed into one module.

I feed my Twitter feed into another module.

I link my other lenses in the 5th module.

I have played with these for a while. You need 5 mods and you need unique content or they will switch the lens back to work in progress

Squidoo Lenses can play a vital role in your SEO but only if you have great content like you should have a very good Lens. Write a good content, Insert some photos and embed videos and you'll even get a lot of visitors. So Choice C is the best for you.

When you publish a lens to Squidoo and it has a green tick, it says that you need to update the content for the lens to remain featured.

How often do you need to update it so the lens remains featured?

Also, if the lens is no longer featured does this mean that you lose the backlink which you put in the lens?

    Hello guys after reading all the discussion i also go with C but you have to know the right method of creating lens and squidoo lens is a best and great method for getting more and more traffic. These are some ways to optimize your squidoo lens;

    Optimizing Title Tags on Squidoo
    Optimizing Description Tags on Squidoo
    Optimizing Keyword Tags on Squidoo
    Optimizing Header Tags on Squidoo
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6241450].message }}
    • Profile picture of the author paulgl
The title is taken by what you title your lens in the
      title module.

The description is taken from your opening paragraph in the
Introduction, Contents & Discovery Tool module. I believe
it's the first 200 characters, give or take. So, you can
"optimize" it by choosing words to fit the 200.

The keywords are from your tags. Why squidoo insists on
a bunch is something I can't figure out. The more the
merrier in their eyes. They probably use this for internal
      linking.

The description and keywords are not used by google for
      rankings.

You can't do any other regular metas except for the 2 above,
and there really is no "optimization" if google is what you
      are after. Squidoo likes stuffing.

You can do "Open Graphs," (og:whatever) which is used by
facebook. You do these when starting the lens. Squidoo
puts in your opening image, title, article, etc. All that's
      optional.

You seriously need to look at optimizing the content, not
stuff that does not matter. Title does matter.

Definitely C.. Squidoo will give you a lot of rep with Google and they don't like being spammed.

1.) Go to Squidoo.com pick any of the "Explore Topics."
2.) Look at the Top Performers. Notice there are 10-20 on this page.
3.) Click "See More" underneath them... That will take you here: squidoo.com/topics/top/TOPICNAME

Notice anything fun about these lenses?

    How about this..

1.) They are 3 steps away from Squidoo's PR8 homepage.
2.) Every link from Squidoo.com to these lenses is dofollow.
3.) The top 20 of these lenses probably have been at the top forever. (They are not leaving.)
4.) 99% of them will have a comment box for you to comment and...

Leave a nice dofollow link back to your lensmaster page.

Most of these lenses are PR4 and up. Squidoo is also a very friendly community and if you are actually building lenses, folks love for you to comment on their pages. This is an easy way for your account to become an authority on Squidoo as far as Google is concerned, which is what's important.

    Well... Have fun...

When you use squidoo as an external / backlink, what do you guys do to make that "squidoo" a strong backlink? Build backlinks to it? Therefore you have another web 2.0 leading towards the squidoo? (Tier 3?) Or do you just order spammy crappy backlinks to your squidoo? Since it isn't your money site anyways?

I build a couple of decent links to my squidoo lenses, then
let squidoo do the rest. They really have some great
authority and love from google if you do lenses the
right way. The way they promote good lenses seems to
be all some of mine need.

Like Paulgl says above, I can't understand why squidoo really
likes you putting tons of tags in your lenses. In fact, you
must do at least 5 as I recall to satisfy that part of the 100%
thing. They may know something about google's algorithm
      that I don't.

Squidoo likes you to add tags because the tag pages then link to your lens providing internal linking support (which helps it rank better).

Squidoo checks for copied content. If your lens has a lot of duplicate content they'll just take it down. I've never copied and I even had a completely original lens almost get taken down. I think people were actually copying me and I had to fight to keep my lens up but did get it back up. Anyway short story is you should always be creating unique content and never copying. Copying is simply not a long-term strategy because sooner or later you'll lose the content, will be punished for it, or simply won't get organic traffic to it.

I actually have grown fond of squidoo it's pretty cool. So let's say I wanted to create 10 web 2.0s a day, would all web 2.0 sites need unique content or can I syndicate some of the content? For sites like squidoo, I will write unique content but it's not easy to write more than 2-3 articles a day for me.

Should I just stick to a 1000 word article for money site, then 300-500 words for web 2.0s like squidoo? Also if I can syndicate articles from my money which web 2.0s are the best for this?

With high quality web 2.0 sites, unique content is always the best way to go, and there's a good chance these authority sites will rank decently well on their own and pull some traffic to refer to your site, making them more valuable than just a backlink source.

It's pretty clear from all the posts before me from people who have experience with Squidoo that unique content is critical. I have to say, though, that it doesn't take a whole lot of content to make a lens that will stick. Just pick some carefully thought out keywords, add an appropriate number of modules, and write some content that is meaningful and useful.

I must admit that some of my most profitable lenses are very thin on content. If you pick good keywords, you'll be surprised how well your lens can do.

P.S. It's interesting to me how a question about Squidoo and Hubpages quickly became discussion about Squidoo only. Is Hubpages really that irrelevant?
