Brand New Site - First Steps

What's your method for a fresh new site with 0 BL's ?? I have one that's indexed but curious about how to kick things off right. Too many links is obviously bad, but what is your strategy?

    I will usually submit my new site to some of the top social bookmarking sites like digg, reddit and so on.

    Yes do the above and also make sure your keyword optimization is on point

    Also make sure to submit a sitemap

    Do meta titles/description/tags

    no harm in starting with some social bookmarking and a small amount of backlinking. just make it all look natural.

    You can blast it with thousands of links. But not directly to the site. When I handled a newly launched site, I did not build any links to it at first. I wrote articles and posted it to top article directories, I made 1 blog (free hosted), I used squidoo and hub (though I waited for a few days for my articles to get published there).

    After doing so, I blasted them with thousands of links. Don't worry of doing this because they are big sites. They can manage to take thousands of links everyday.

    After that, I built links to every main pages of the site (no technical theory I just tried it). After a few months, I've seen great results.

    Posting articles to digg or reddit. Also putting out press releases is another idea. I would also start manually creating backlinks as well. Good luck.

    Well if I have a fresh website, the first thing I do besides trying to get backlinks is ensure I have well optimized articles on it for the keyword that I am trying to rank for. I then do a social bookmark blast on the site.

    - Submit your site to bookmarking sites like Digg, Reddit, Delicious and etc.

    - Write press release about the launch of your website and about the contents of it then submit it to FREE press release sites. It helps you get exposure and it works great on SEO.

    - Find blogs that are relevant to your niche and comment with a backlink to your website. Although blog commenting is old school, it still works

    - Write some articles about your niche. Submit it to FREE articles directories with backlinks to your website.

    - Create a foundation, build link wheels, pyramids, web 2.0 properties and etc. Just don't link low quality links directly to your website.

    You can also try networking your site through social media sites like twitter, pinterest, and facebook. Manual blog commenting on similar sites helps as well.

    I just started a new site about a week ago.

    Right now I'm just creating content for the site. After I get about a dozen articles written, I will start my backlinking campaign. Using forums and blog commenting from authority sites. After that I'll look for some high PR sites in my niche to get links from.

    Keep writing content, I think that will get more traffic at first, until I start getting rankings in the search engines.

    I've gotten 2 websites ranked #1 in Google and Yahoo. And 2 websites ranked #4 on Google and Yahoo by doing my website promotion by using this method.

    I just started 2 more websites and this is how I'm working on their promotions.

Share your articles on social bookmarking sites and add your site to web directories. Focus on article marketing. Get in touch with other webmasters and write guest posts for their websites in order to get quality backlinks to your site or blog.
