Ok, we've all had our experiences with spammers from China and Iran and other countries - so what countries do you block? I'm not saying any of the countries are bad, just in case some is from China or Iran here, it just happens that they are sending more spammers than any other country.

Who's on your blocked list?

Some countries that you may want to block: China, Vietnam, Iran, Turkey, Russia, Israel, Bulgaria, Romania

Some people here also block traffic from India and other countries, but in my opinion especially India has some amazing growth rates so you don't really want to miss out when they're finally able to buy stuff online

Again, I'm not discriminating anyone here, some very cool countries here

For newbies:

Just in case you don't know how to block people

1 Install GeoIP, tutorial here

2 add something like this to your .htaccess file with country codes separated by |

PHP Code:
RewriteCond %{ENV:GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE} ^(CN|VN)$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.google.com [L]
If you want to block people from accessing your server as well, look up CIDR and firewall IP blocking online

Pretty much 90% of the frauds I have had in the past have been from Indonesia (with a couple of random US ones - which are very easy to spot)

I myself don't prefer to block any country. Its better to block some IP addresses that are spamming more but blocking whole the country is not a good option in my opinion. You can see spammers from all countries and usually in east Asia countries.

I have a few ecommerce stores, so I redirect all non - EU traffic. I also have Italy blocked because their postal system always seems to "lose" my packages.

It is difficult, people can use proxies and still get in. Just make you site as safe as you can.

    Hi,

I don't block the whole countries, I prefer a by-IP basis, but most of the spammers IPs and attacks I've had so far come from Ukraine and a little bit from Russia. Strangely, lately I've had a series of attacks using a network of proxies from Sweden...

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

He, easy, because I run eBay niche sites I block any country that does not have an eBay country site (and my plugin serves up the right listings for the right country if they do) - really does eliminate a lot of spam and bad bots, and also keeps my EPN EPC high because I am eliminating non-buying traffic. Though as people have pointed out, you can't stop them if they are using US/European proxies.

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise
