people recommend .com EMDs...and if these aren't available they say try .org and ,net

What difference in terms of SEO will you get if you choose .com v .org or .net?

also what advantage will .org or .net give you above .biz, .mobi, .me, .co, .info etc etc
#net #org

They just rank better and carry a higher weight. ".com" for example will beat out .org, or .net. As for the the other extenstions. You can still rank but generally you must do more work and sometimes a lot more work to get to the same place as you would with a .com.

In other words, if the .com, .net and .org all have the same on page SEO and off page SEO and all of the backlinks weighed the same then theoretically the .com would be ranked ahead of the others. etc.

    I hope that makes sense...

Totally wrong information. As mentioned by Matt several times, Google ranks all extensions the same. The only difference they make is country domains ccTLD .. when you have a .us domain and want to rank better in the US -- that's the way to go. Want to rank high in India? Go for .in etc.

Some inside juice: Domain registration length matters .. so don't buy a info and register for only 1 year - looks spammy and you are not serious about it

Just to clarify, I have ranked .net and .org's and .info's ahead of .com so it can be done and sometimes easily-

In my opinion, there is not any huge difference between them and all of them can rank in top results if you optimize them well. There are many .net or .org domains that are ranking well in Google and Google ranks them better than .com ones.

There isn't a bit of difference between any EMD when it comes to pure SEO.

The only reason to choose a .com over any others is a purely marketing/branding point of view (ie people recognize .com better than the others).

If SEO is your main focus, then it really really really doesn't matter which EMD you choose.

I own thousands of .info sites and they rank just fine.

        Well, just ask wikipedia.org.

        Case closed.

Not related to SEO but bear in mind a .org often converts traffic better for certain types of informational websites with, say, lead form generation, because it has a non-profit, non-commercial feel about.

No difference between any extensions. Mods, please sticky something so we don't have the same questions daily.

I don't think there is a difference. It comes down to seo and backlinks and how useful your website is to users.
