Paranoid about Scrapebox type programs

I am not sure what to believe anymore.

On this forum and others, I see people discussing the ins and outs of blog comments. These discussions range in topic from using Scrapebox to send 1500 auto-approve comments to your website to finding 50 high PR dofollow blogs and leaving 'thoughtful comments' instead. The thoughtful comments are said to be "more valuable than spammy comments". That sounds all well and good, but are 50 'thoughtful' high PR comments really better than 1500 spammy comments? I really would like to know which I should put time and energy into doing. God knows I've put enough energy into research. So which is it? Is SB only good for spamming the hell out of blogs? Can it be used to obtain any quality backlinks whatsoever?

Your honest Scrapebox thoughts are appreciated!

Scrapebox is not just for spamming purpose. you can do keyword harvesting, high pr backlink finding and many other things with useful addons. for ex: scrape links on your niche and then filter out the high pr links with scrapebox mass pr checker and manually comment on those links.

Ah, that is true. But all I see are these huge lists of auto-approve blogs similar to the one you are selling. Wouldn't utilizing these huge lists get me banned for blasting so many links in short period of time? Or are we banking on the fact that not all of them are going to stick ?

Scrapebox comes with many features not blog commenting only.
I rarely use blog commenting features except for some trusted clean specific blogs.

But there are many other features that i use it a lot. And they are good, helping me save times a lot.

SB is still a good powerful tool to use to get backlinks, with emphasis on getting the right type of backlinks.

Sending 15,000 spam comments will do more harm to your site then good, espacially if you got the list from a forum where 100's others have already spammed the blog to death.

The best option for this and one that I use is to buy premium links, or hire someone thats good at finding good high PR blogs with SB. Therefor the blogs are not already littered with spam comments to god knows what type of sites lol

agreed with everything you said. but can you tell me what to look for when seeking out a premium blog list? are there any good places to find them? most of the 'black hat' forums have lists for sale but usually seem to be the "500,000 AA blog" type lists which I think are best to avoid.

Its Quality That Matters rather than QUANTITY, Scrapebox will give you the quantity but for quality dont go anywhere near it. scrapebox is good if you dont point the links directly to your money site ie for building tier 2 links IMO

As far as 50 vs 1,500 ... Would you rather have 50 DoFollow backlinks from pages with a low number of outbound links? Maybe even half of them from a page with PR?

Or, would you rather have 1,500 "nofollow" backlinks from pages with no PR and are spammed-to-death?

I'll admit that I still do the occasional blast on auto approve sites. But I don't point the links at my main sites. Just buffer pages.

haha, well of course the 50.
