How many H1 tag should i have on a page

how many h1 tags should i have use in a single page?

i am confused about h1 tags, i read many blogs but not found correct answer. So anyone know about h tags then tell me and also tell how many h1 tags google suggegest.

    No 100% correct answer.

    As a rule of thumb, use one h1 tag for your main page headings, and as many h2 tags as you like for your subheadings.

      According to good HTML there should be one H1 and if you want to put more content on a web page then you can you H2, H3 and so on.

    I use one H1 tag , but there are many pages which doesn't have even one H1 tag , but having multiple H1 tag on same page may give a keyword stuffing feeling.. IMO

    Many websites i know don't have H1 tags and if you want to have in on your pages, only use one time from this tag on each of your pages.

    As a suggestion use only one H1 per page and that too in the top of the page or say before any H2 or other header tags.
