Where can I find an awesome PPC expert?

We really want to ramp up our PPC and find an expert to put a strategy together and then set up our AdWords and Microsoft AdCenter accounts for optimum performance.

Can anyone suggest a place to turn to find a good consultant?

    When I first started using PPC for my sites I managed to find a top PPC expert on Elance. Turned out this bloke did a lot of work for some big insurance companies here in the UK.

    At first I thought his fees were a little high - at around $100 per hour, but to be honest the benefits his work brought for my sites conversions & sales wise, his work was worth ten times that figure.

    So in short, don't be afraid to post a job on Elance - there are some highly qualified PPC experts lurking on there. If no one catches your eye, just cancel the job! It's worth a try, right?

    Well, there are a few good consultants posting here so you may want to PM them, if they haven't already. You can PM me too.

    Tgpros mentioned eLance and I use it myself where I get about half of my contracts. A few good consultants there too.

    I've found some work on Craigslist too. Many people looking for consultants advertise there and one told me he got over 80 replies once. Most were junk unfortunately and I can attest to that having tried myself once.

    How about asking your web design firm, host or SEO provider? I partner with a couple of those myself so they may have someone on staff or that they sub-contract to for PPC.

    You could always use Google and search for ppc expert, ppc manager and related terms.
