I've launched a new site and doing SEO for that. But I've heard that now doesn't count links from articles, blogs, profile links and other links that are obtained unnaturally. Google does analysis of site and give top ranks to site which has value for visitors and natural backlinks. Is it true? If it is then I think I should waste my time making backlinks.

Have you any proof on google doesn't count links from articles, blogs, profile links and other links......LOL
If you are making backlinks by using duplicate content or irrelevant websites then it can harmful for your website. So only focus on quality content distribution and it will help you to create quality as well as natural backlinks.

Google doesn't send you any reasons behind dropping your site's rank. This is what I, after reading threads, came to know. Because I saw that some of my site which were top ranked suddenly lost ranking despite I was doing same backlink activity as before.

    Question one:
how does Google differentiates "natural" from "unnatural" backlinks?

    Question two:
what other systems are used by Google to check/re-check/confirm their analysis?

Answer those two questions and you'll have your answers.

Natural link is when other people think that your site is important and informative enough to refer it to some one. On the other hand google knows about blogs and article that has become a business and it doesn't guarantee that the site to which link has been given is good enough.

Profile links have no value and are made only or the pupose of backlink. It doesn't guarantee that content on the site is great.
