Question about going from page 3 to page 30?

If have never had a site go up to page 3 then backwards. I've had it disappear for a while but come back even higher.

This new site, registered a month and a half ago and built two weeks ago went from page 3 to page 30 overnight.

Is it just keep doing the linking and content adding then it will come back or give up and concentrate on other sites?

I definitely wouldn't give up. I've had pages do the same. Move up a little, drop almost out of nowhere, then come back stronger.

Sounds to me like it is in the dance phase. I would just keep doing what you are doing.

Make sure that you are following the google panda closely and imiating what they want in their updates. Wait a month and then see where you are at.

It depends. Were you foolish enough to build links to a single keyword for those three months? If so, go Google "Google Sandbox". It's fairly simple to fix that algorithmic penalty though - plenty of case studies on the topic out there.

Like you said it is a new site and so it is probably just the google dance, just be patient, keep building and it will pop back up.

This is happening to my main site also. It isn't a new site, has been around since the dawn of the Internet (well, 2000 or so...). It is redesigned frequently to keep up with Web trends, it has all the necessary social things on it, have been active with engagement on the social sites...and I'm dropping like a rock.

I will admit many years ago we did buy backlinks, but now we focus on getting good, informative articles with links placed on relevant blogs and sites. I have also been varying the anchor text.

I feel like I'm doing everything right -- why is my site dancing?

Did you recently start backlinking the site? A lot of times when google first finds the backlinks they have to readjust where to put the site, so it ends up bouncing around for a bit.

Well... I advice you to wait for it to come up again... You don't have anything to do. Just keep creating backlinks and that's it (If the website was from Page3 to Page5, it could be possible your competitors to work harder than you, but with such a great differnce between the pages, this is NOT possible and in just one night...) // Wish you a good luck!

I must be the only backlinker who rarely experiences this "Google Dance". Just steady upwards rankings...

Another thing to consider is that people might have started searching for your keyword which would push your page back a few spots, or did you do any recent spam linkbuilding?

I did one submission to article directories. That's all.

it's now not even in the top 100 for those keywords but the front page ranks for long tail keywords.

I suppose I'll just build it out more, submit the backlinks that will gradually get accepted and move onto next site.

    Or give up?

I'm lost if it's a penalty for what to do.. but no message in WT.
