I've heard of services not being effected much that used a wider variety of links and not just links from 1 source. The ones who had a wide diversity seemed to be good.

That's just from reading a lot of different threads though..

A diverse backlinking profile mixed with great content on your website and some on-page SEO will get you where you want to be; #1 on Google.

Correct! Link is a link. I keep anchor text variation and URL variation of money site. This gives a great result in these days.

Pinterest is good for traffic if you have a certain kind of site - things that would appeal to women mostly. I'm not a huge pinterest fan, but they don't send me any traffic cuz I don't make the right kinds of sites.

According to me, In 2012 Google is planning to strengthen the bond between SEO and SMO. With the launch of G+ last year, there is gradual change in organic results so I really feel social media will have a huge role to play in search results.

I think you're a tad late. This is (almost) May 2012. People are
        thinking about 2013 and beyond.

Not to mention that you have two strikes for:

Blog commenting has been dead, IMHO, since at least 2010 if not earlier.

Yes, I cannot tell you 100% not to blog comment, just be very, very,
        very, very, very selective.

Squidoo has been my go-to for a long time and still is. Forum profiles,
        if done right, are golden.

Stay tuned. I'm preparing a good post on that same thing.

There was (is) good and reliable information of WHAT Google wants to rank - that includes (as usual) useful sites, useful and unique content, yadda yadda yadda... and then we have "positive social signs".

Now, for most people this is a strong presence in Facebook/Twitter etc etc - but IMHO it's not - I really believe (and have my proof) it's a wider approach to common "social signs".

My advice for those looking into the future? Open your eyes into what is going on right now with Google, re-check the analysts leaked documents, and see what these last updates brought into the mix - including the guidelines for G workers.

There is a clear pattern of WHAT they expect from us. Some sites/markets will have a simple equation to solve, while others will be in a hell to fulfill these "expectations".

Can you please tell me which on techinques is best for SEO
    The answer is surprisingly simple:

In your SEO and link building, try to emulate natural link patterns as good as you can.
Sit back, relax...take a random site like wikipedia or whatever popular site..and then THINK about what sort of people might share the links and HOW and where and in what ways.

And then think over whether your own link profile is anything like a "natural" link profile.

    * Speed of how you build links? Link velocity
    * Anchor keyword diversity?
    * Link sources (Article sites???? Web2.0??? Bookmarks???)

Here is what you will NEVER see in a natural link profile:

    * Any emphasis on a specific "keyword" as anchor. It simply doesn't happen because normal people rarely use keywords as anchors for a link. If anything, they maybe only a small percentage of the links will have a keyword as anchor.

    * Your links are 80% from article directories or bookmarking sites?
IMPOSSIBRU! There is no way a site is getting 100 bookmarking links without any other, "real" links or web references.

Why should a site get bookmarked by 100s of (fake SenukeX etc.) users on bookmarking and web2.0 sites, but hardly have any other links?

    * ONLY high PR links, or ONLY low PR links, or ONLY high-PR follow links etc.. ??

I am not posting another "here is the solution" thread since i think its too early yet, but this is what i think you should do.

Hello warriors, I'm too in the OP's position.

What would be a typical natural strategy on squidoo if I want to promote or generate traffic to my ecommerce site?

am I getting this right in asking this question or is this squidoo site just good to serve as a relevant site for my ranking sake?

      Thanks,
      Ralph

Squidoo is just like any other type of site including your money site. The only difference is it can take more links to it without getting penalized.

With that said, using Squidoo can be a good way to get traffic to your money site or affiliate links since its easier to rank it than your brand new money site which have a higher chance to get penalized if you aren't careful with your backlinking strategy.
