Google hasn't updated my index page in weeks.

Any idea why this could be? My new posts seem to get indexed almost immediately, but the cache for my index page is from 3+ weeks ago and it has been updated greatly since, but google doesn't seem to want to update it's listing.

Anyone have any ideas?

I use an xml sitemap plugin which submits updated sitemaps to google and other search engines daily. Is this the same thing?
