there is a way to *opt out* of these changes.*

I strongly suggest doing this to all your campaigns.* Here's what you need to do:

Existing Campaigns

Click the*Campaigns*tab. Select the campaign you'd like to change the matching options for.
Click the*Settings*tab.
Scroll to the "Advanced settings" section. Click the*Keyword matching options*link.
In the "Exact and phrase match" section, select*Do not include close variants.
*New Campaigns

Click the*Campaigns*tab.
Click*+New campaign.
Scroll to the "Advanced settings" section. Click the*Keyword matching options*link.
In the "Exact and phrase match" section, select*Do not include close variants.*

    Hi robcarsello,

Welcome to the Warrior Forum and thanks for this excellent first post providing useful information.

I noticed a radical change in the relevancy of keywords triggering ads several weeks ago. This created the need to make massive changes in account management strategies across all the campaigns I manage.

It seems that Google is trying to dumb down the precision and control features of the AdWords system to make it easier for new users to setup campaigns. Your tip is a useful information on how to reinstate some of the precision back in the the system.

These changes have been so radical that it is now completely useless to use Broad match keywords, and there is no need since exact and phrase match work so much more like broad match used to in the early days of the program.

If you doubt me, just run a Search Term Report for any broad match keyword in your campaigns to see how poorly targeted the broad match keywords are at this time.

You could allways use the Braod match modifier.
