Hi all,

I've seen quite a bit of ranking decreases lately for almost all of my sites. I received the unnatural link message on March 21st. Most of my ranking were fine as of last week but I start to see general decreases across the board last Saturday. My main keyword went from about #2 to #26 where a secondary keyword from a different link on my main site went from #1 to #10. Last night my main keyword went from #6 to #10.

I just did some looking around on my site and have a few "thinner" pages where I don't have much words but have quite a few affiliate links (basically if I were promoting a page for jackets, i'd have a link for the orange version, the red version, the youth size orange, the adult size orange, etc). Should I be fixing that up?

Last question, regarding duplicate content. I found a couple of pages where Google picks up two different URLs on my same domain having really similar text. So the two page would be http://url1/cat1/page-1, and http://url1/cat1/page-2. Is that a problem as well that affects the whole site?

Thanks!

The unnatural links message concerns links that are on *other* sites (which link to your site).

By all means, look at your site for duplicate content and thin pages, but that has nothing to do with the message you got. What you need to do for that is undo all the unnatural linkbuilding you did and then file a reconsideration request with Google detailing what you did to get rid of the links.

Thanks! Ya I have been working on that for sure. I'm just confused as I received the message March 21st. I didn't experience rank dropping until last week and more so today. I figured I would have seen them sooner. Could the drop be due to losing a bunch of links as well?

Another thing I should mention. I am ranking #1 for a few of my long-tail terms. So does that eliminate issues like potential Panda penalties since it wouldn't be site wide?
