Subdomain Contextual Relationship

Hello,
Like many people here I have several 2.0 properties, some of which are blog style sites.
When you get a subdomain site like on WP does google define the sites context at the subdomain level (like if my blog was about bicycles) or is it like an article directory where the sites context is all over the place?
