Does anyone here build backlinks to their twitter account and if so which of the below 2 do you use:

h ttp://twitter.com/XXXXX

or

h ttp://twitter.com/#!/XXXXX

I have seen both in google search results and don't want to waste time backlinking the version google doesn't like as much. Thanks

Has anyone here backlinked their twitter page? Any advice would be appreciated.

Rely on twitter for interactions with your targeted audience and not for backlinks. Twitter's backlinks are all nofollow anyway.

Ok you seem to be lost or maybe just looked at my title. Does anyone know which of the 2 I should pick for building backlinks to my twitter account. Thanks

You pick the one that is indexed by Google. It's usually h ttp://twitter.com/XXXXX. But I've seen a few contradictions.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen both indexed by google which is why I asked this question. But nobody seems to know so I withdraw.

Well technically the #! one, points to twitter's homepage. So you have your answer.

It doesn't matter. it goes to the same page.
          It's the same friggin page.

Ditto for youtube, wikipedia, and the like. Kills the insanity
people make over which to use for their homepage.

Google could care less. This is 2012, soon to be
          2013.

Here's what I have gathered about google and social.
It's not how many links you get, it's about the quality
of those links. Links to your twitter are automated by
people retweeting or mentioning you, and google indexing
those. The quality is about the quality of those retweeters
and accounts that mention you. All my twitter accounts
are PR5+. That's what counts a little bit. If you have a twitter
about music, having 1000 nobody followers will do nothing.
Having Capital Records follow you, retweet you, or mention
you, will count big time. There are other "quality" music
twitters than capital. Just an example. The same could be
said for google+, pinterest, facebook likes, etc. Pointless
to get 10,000 useless likes from fake or nobody accounts.

This is really just an extension of PR. Getting a zillion links
from nobodies is useless. Getting one link from NYT will
send you up the PR and authority chart.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.
