Do SEO Niches Still Exist?

I got SECockpit 6 days ago and have been on that mother****er non stop searching kws in all kinds of niches. Travel, pets, dating, pickup, fitness, running shoes, workout apparel, learn another language, embarrassing health problems, how to get abs, beagle puppies, dog hunting supplies, hunting, fishing, make money, car speakers, best cameras, product names of all kinds of ****, and the list goes on. I found nothing. Nothing that has reasonably low competition and reasonably high traffic. One or two keywords here and there but then nothing else in the niche to go after.

I'm not expecting this to be easy because I have an insane work ethic and will go the distance. But after plowing through so many terms(and their AdWords derivatives) I want to know. Are you guys finding SEO niches today? Obviously the market has been saturated like crazy over the past few years, all the EMDs bought, someone already pursuing every pretty much every term, etc. I'm beginning to think I need to build an authority site over time. But let me know: are you finding SEO niches?

To define this let's say: 4 related kw phrases- over 1,000 LMSearches
Competition reasonably outrankable in 3-4 months

You're looking into wide niches with zero originality.

It's way NOT saturated. I have no idea what the gurus are telling you. The Internet is too large for that purpose. I just found over 50 last week pretty easily.

Anything is rankable. It just takes time. For good measure, any keyword with a title competition of below 3000 is literally a sitting duck for manipulative SEO. But you don't want to target low commercial intent keywords.

Sometimes, lower search volume can convert more than higher search volume. You need targeted keywords. Prefixes like "buy", "purchase", "cheap" etc. Product names. Models. Places. Discounts. Coupons. ETC

You need to get yourself an education in types of search queries in Google. Google "transactional search query" and you'll probably find out how to easily get a commercial keyword.

Think laterally, and vertically. For example, just get on to the Amazon marketplace and pull out a topic. Or eBay. Or books for Dummies. it doesn't have to be "how to get abs". It can be "abdominal fat loss" or a [product name].

Psst! Here's a little secret... Not everybody uses SEO as a means of driving traffic. There are other ways of entering highly-competitive niches and milking them for all they're worth

This is not exactly what he was asking though is it.......

There are still niches out there lots of them, if you are just starting out keyword research can feel like your banging into brick walls at every turn but it becomes easier as your mind starts to look at things differently.

I used to hate doing it but now I actually enjoy sitting down to find some new keywords to hit.

Witty had some good tips there, but there are even more. If you're looking at the competition in the GKWT (or if your program uses that), ignore it. It has no relevance for you. That factor is for people buying AdWords campaigns so that they know who they're competing against for top spots.

Keep drilling and don't rely so much on 1 piece of software. There are free, organic ways to do this as well. My mentor has taught me a few of them and they're slightly time-consuming, but they work wonders.

Authority sites are becoming the way to go as well, but niche- and mini-niche sites will always be there if you're smart about them. Do a search for Jim Hudson and Joseph Archibald here on the WF. They both have FANTASTIC threads from 2-3 years ago telling you how to rank in Google, and their tactics can still work today. (Note: The threads are long as @#$%, but they are well worth the read.)

Really? Well this comes as a surprise to me that you guys are having SEO success. In my experience, I'll sit down, start with a broad niche and drill down deeper and deeper into long tails but it seems like there's just good competition for everything. I'll keep at it.

Forget the competition - pick a topic, build a site, have a lot of long tail content. Give it about 2-3 months, you will be happy with the results.

I use this approach for building my adsense sites, and always get traffic and adsense clicks.

I am getting the sense that the keywords I am looking at are too broad. I really can't find a good way to "drill down" deeper into long-tails. Here's what I do(for example):

Search "beagles" in SECockpit (obviously a very broad term)
It returns a list of terms from AdWords, mostly between 1-3 words

So then I'll type in a more specific sub-niche phrase
It returns a list of terms in the sub-niche- but they were already listed on the original page anyway- there all just in the 0-200 Search range

I always think to myself that we must be running out of Niches - but yet I'm able to come across several every month. Can take a while to come up trumps but they always turn up in the end!
