Often I see that people are saying my site is/was at number #... at Google. My question is, how they can be sure about the exact ranking? What tool they use?
I've read another thread on the same issue. But again I'm asking this because I'm kinda at the end of my wit!
I tried almost all the tools I got in that thread and by searching Google(those were Free). Even the authorized one from Google (tools4google.com). But I got a huge difference between Gooogle's one and others. I also manually searched Google after clearing the cookies and cache, but still there's about 9-10 difference in results. I got about three same result from different tools. And rest are with differences including tools4google.

So, please inform me a single tool that will provide the exact ranking of any keywords what is actually found by any searcher on Google.

Thanks.

I'm using keyword position finder and cuterank. They are good tools.

There are hundreds of servers that Google uses worldwide, and your position can vary on each one of them. There's no telling for sure, really. There are even multiple servers for the USA alone, so you may be #X position on some Google servers in USA and #Y position in other.

You'd be wise to choose one source (such as Google™ Website Position Checker » Keyword Tracking Tool - I find it to be quite good) as a reference and just to see whether your rankings actually increased or decreased.

I've checked through it. Actually the confusion grew when I found different results on several other tools and some of them including my manual search gave the same result. Though, it seems that Google's one has the more authority as always. And thanks for your suggestion.

I usually check the positions manually by searching on Google. For skipping page by page you can set it to 100 results per page from the setting control. Or you can try this Position Checker

Have you tried our tool? The link is in my signature. I have been using different tools over the years, and find this to be as accurate as any of them, but with faster results and is very easy to use. It's also a website and free, not an app, so you can use it anywhere you go.

FYI, depending on how the site or app requests the results from google, you can get different results. Specifying the top 100 as a single request, google will typically return multiple results for the same domain in the #1 position. When making a normal request through google directly, it groups those together, making it appear as one and then shows the next 9 top domains. This alters to results. Make sure to check whether a domain is listed multiple times or not when comparing results. So if your domain is #2, you could be #5 on some SERP tools because the top domain may be listed in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th domain. Hope that makes sense.

Rank Tracker is the perhaps the best option. Also cuterank is also good.
