This is just something i notices today and i thought was a little weird and i cant come up with a good solution for it, so i thought i would ask some of the more knowledge ones about this.

Today i have checked like 10-15 keywords that i want to rank for with my tryout authority page. This is the weird thing (for me atleast) that happens.

lets say that i search in google for "blue cars"

on spot 50 in google my page "yellow mopeds" IE www.mysite.com/yellowmopeds come up. Then if i go to the last page of the serps (lets say in this case page 60) ill see this message

In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 601 already displayed.
and on spot
599 - www.mysite.com/greycars
600 - www.mysite.com/greencars
601 - www.mysite.com/bluecars

And this is the same thing for all those 10 keywords i tested with today. I have 2-3 pages ranking on the last 2-3 spots in Google. And always the page i'm trying to rank for is within those 2-3 results.

I'm a little confused myself so i'm not sure if my post made any sense at all, i'm just finding it all strange. I'm not sure what i should believe from this. Penalty that pushing me with many of my pages to the bottom of the Serps?

Or something completely different that i fail to see or understand

Looks like a penalty to me.

How were your rankings before this?

I've got a site where the main kw was #5 page 1 and yesterday disappeared to the last page where 3 of my posts now show in the last three spots.

I did some backlinking recently and this is what's caused it. It will soon be back though because it happens all the time. It's just dancing that's all.

Looks like a penalty to me too.

I had something similar happen when I over-optimized my backlinks for a specific keyword. It was in top spot then dropped to the bottom and didn't recover for well over a month.

Hey guys, thanks for your answers.

I have some follow ups on your suggestions:

Penalty - most of these posts that i find in the bottom of the serps i have built backlinks for. The site is fairly new so most backlinking have gone to the main page. And if i would have like 20 pages penalized i though maybe more if not all of my pages would get a penalty?

Dance - I also doubt its the Google dance too. it feels weird that all the researched keywords would all fall to the last spots in the serps, lower rankings and maybe dissapearing all together,SURE. but all in the lasts spots. Also its just the page aiming for the specific keyword. there is always 2-3 "other" pages on the spots around it too. And as i said i havent built any backlinks to these pages directly

All i can say that im a tad confused.

It is a new site that i have been building backlinks too. as said not all keywords im aiming for have dropped to the bottom but many of the innerpages have.

I have to add that some of the pages that are ranked in the last spots in the serps, ranks good for other keywords that they dont target, while the page that target that keyword among with other pages that targets LSI words around that keyword ranks in the bottom.

Hmm, im having a little problem explaining myself here.

Basicly it seems that this happens for some pages with some keywords, while the same page can rank(decent) for a completly different keyword. So if we talk penalty it seems that a page can get a penalty for certain keywords only which would seem wierd.

Or maybe that the page is overoptimized for that word? Though i never tend to use a keyword more then 1%, so i wouldnt say keyword stuffing.

Look at your backlinking anchor text variation, as well as your internal links and titles. I've had this happen to sites because of either/both of those issues.

For instance, I had a sidebar that was like this:

    Red widgets
    Blue widgets
    Green widgets

And then titles that all had "[Color] widgets" in them too. It was a very orderly site structure, but I ended up with a 950 penalty. So I went back and changed the sidebar to:

    Color of Widgets:

    Red
    Green
    Blue

Then mixed up the title structures too. Made the site feel less orderly, but seems to have helped with the penalties somewhat. Not as many pages affected by it now.

This is something i have to test, The whole site is in a authority kind of way. with the main area of this niche is a very broad keyword. The problem is that all my subniches on the site usually involves the main keyword, and im not sure right now how to get rid of this.

Though now when i check more and more on the site and its rankings it seems that my mainpage have got some kind of hit. the mainpage used to rank for many keywords (in this case with rank i mean top 100) now it have completly dissapeared from the serps in many cases.

It seems that i have got a penalty in one way or another and i have to figure out why. Im going to start with checking over titles and Internal linking/anchors to mix everything up alittle.
