Is using "Easy WP SEO" plugin okay after penguin update?

I am bit confused here.

Nearly all my sites are tanked by latest penguin update! Before the update, almost all of them were on first page (mostly among top 5). To build these sites, I was following 90% to 100% on-page SEO techniques suggested by "Easy WP SEO" plugins and alike.

I never used a private or other blog network to establish backlinks. Content is 100% unique and posts are 500 words and more (usually 700 to 800 words).

Any idea what might be the possible reason getting penalized in SERPs. Should I keep using "Easy WP SEO" plugin to create 90% to 100% on-page SEO results?

Your input is welcome.

Easy WP SEO is slightly flawed in that it can enourage over optimization. Especially when you think about keyword density, naturally easy wp seo is setup with a density of 3-4% Ive always worked with 2% or less myself and this is definetly something that google is picking up on.

Simply write your articles to be informative and be focused around your keyword, featuring your keyword once or twice and in the title will basically cover you. Dont worry about putting 1 every 100 words or anything like that.

    Do what flows!

Also google is slapping a lot of sites, one person hasnt done seo for 3 years and its killed his family business and 3 people working for him with familys are facing job loses. There is no definitive answer, you could have just been chosen simply because your competitior didnt like you.

    Hi,

Definitely watch that the keyword density doesn't get unnatural (meaning you should write as you would like to read), other than that, make sure that you're not keyword stuffing or doing other things that could cause this penalty to be triggered.

If you have dropped in rankings, what do the top sites have that your site doesn't have? This will point you in the right direction.

I agree with the keywords density. I never focus on that. If you can tell what you're article is about then so can google.

These type of plugins makes things much easier. Instead of calculating keywords density and doing SEO.
