Why do sites with low traffic/monthly revenue sell for large amounts on flippa

Why did this site sell for 2,200 https://flippa.com/2731146-7-yr-old-...ty-health-site is it because it's a 7yr old site.

It has only 3,100 visits a month and only makes 41 dollars a month. Doesn't look like much either.

I thought sites sold for 10x what they make a month, so a site that makes 100, would sell for 1,000 but apparently I'm wrong.

If I made a authority site with a couple hundred pages, and a monthly revenue of let's say 400.00 dollars what would that sell for.

$60/month I just read and sometimes sell for 20* profit so that would bring $1200 in the drawer. No clue why he got almost double, site is freaking ugly and the domainname isn't worth anything either.

yeah nest28, very interesting im just checking right now and if you click the 26 bids are the top right you will see a list of bidders that all of them looks like they are constant bidders, that make's me think in build some sites with adsense and sell them for 40x because that's for what he sold the site.

Did you see before was sold, what was the amount he was asking?

Potential and there's a lot of new"ish" buyers there who don't really know any better.

Yea, people really don't really know much about what they are buying. They are a little naive and think that everyone is an honest seller. Also they put too much reliance on pictures of income and traffic, when all of that stuff can easily be altered.

    It's called "crystal ball syndrome".

The Adsense earnings are steadily increasing every month as the traffic also increases, so judging by the trend this site should be making more than $200/mo in a couple of months time.
This is already an authority site in Googles eyes so you're looking at stable long term income for years to come.
Notice the seller didn't say "This site is making $200 per month".

This statement 'this site should be making more than $200/mo in a couple of months time' doesn't mean anything. It can be true, and it can be a lie.

I think this shows how naive can buyer be, nothing else.

I would pay $600 for that site in a heartbeat. If I had cash to invest I'd pay $1,200. $2,200 is a little high, but it seems like the site will be a consistent earner.

You have to remember that a lot of people don't know how to get websites to rank in the search engines. A site that makes $2/day is easy for some of us to make, but not for everyone.

With interest rates as they are, it is better to buy something like a website then invest in the bank.

All them sellers say that, along with its a turnkey passive biz. The only thing turnkey is your truck, and that has risks too.
Maybe it was the pretty pictures.

Actually theres no real value you place on selling websites. Yes they have the usual 10-24 x the monthly revenue. but....

Every website is worth the amount that the buyer is willing to pay for it. The site in a particular niche could be valued 20 times more to someone else other then yourself as they may have a big interest in that niche/site.

So it all depends on the buyers that are interested in the websites for sale to actually put a value on a intangible website.

some sites may go for x20 times the monthly amount others may only go for about x10

it all depends how much somone is prepared to pay for a site

if somone likes certain niches then they may happily pay more for the site, every site is different

Yeah, and in Flippa people seem to prefer .com .net .org over other extensions.

I have a site that is #1 for the keyword "African Mango Plus Reviews" in Google (even after the Penguin update). I opened it up for bidding in Flippa, I even included some autoresponder and article bonuses, and all I get is a $125 bid because it is .info ... LOL. They just can't accept the fact that all domain extensions function the same when it comes to ranking and SEO (unless you are considering Geo targeting of course). That's the problem with people..they only believe what they want to believe without actually trying to do it (see, this is actually a proof that .info can be #1 in Google, and that site is only 2 months old mind you)

And when he bought the site the next month he got kicked in the nutt sack:

Sorry to bump this thread - wanted to show a nice example of how things can go really bad if you don't know what you are buying and on top of it buying at an inflated price.

What happened to the traffic? I assume he lost rankings, would that be due to a Google update or just neglect?

This is the real answer to the question, not many people understand how to REALLY make money on the internet, and they are buying something that is already making money (even if it is minimum for you), the price of something it is always the amount of money the buyer is willing to pay for it, nothing else, if you have a site valuated in 1,000 and somebody arrives and tell you "I will give you 10,000" dollars for it would you tell them :"No, I will take just 1,000 thanks"? and that does not make you a scammer
