I'm pretty new to SEO and back linking etc., I've already burned through a few hundred dollars on these type of backlinks:

Social Bookmarking Link
Press Release
Article Submission
Profile Link
Blog Comments
Social Media
Wiki Links (on random sites not related to wiki lol)

After one month my website's results on MajesticSeo are the following:

572 Backlinks
NoFollow 463
Referring Domains 148
Referring IP addresses: 64
Referring Class Cs: 58
Indexed URL's: 11

I have two questions

1) Which links actually count towards Google ranking my pages and keywords, is it just Indexed URL's?
2) How can I get better Backlinks from real websites in Articles using my keywords on strong sites in the same Niche as me?

I've read many stories of people ranking number one for their keywords using all the crappy links I listed in the first part of my post.

Money not well spent. Those are old methods that won't be effective post panda. Perhaps creating content that is good and people would want to link too would answer question 2. Sorry there are no easy methods or shortcuts anymore. Content is king.

You need to look for high PR quality backlinks. One tip would be guest posting on authority blogs and/or blogroll exchange.

      - Only indexed URL's, yes.

Guest blogging can help you a lot, but it's a real pain in the ***...
I remember back in the 1940's before the internet was invented we used to do Link Swapping... Obviously we cannot do that now but what about if I contact sites in a similar niche to me and offer them the following.

They link to my site, I like to them from another site of mine (same niche). Do you think this is something worth giving ago or bad idea?

    Hi SEOwned.

    A couple of advices.

    1. Go to tutorialized.com, tutorialsphere.com and the rest of the tutorial sites out there and send them some tutorials of your own. It's a great backlink source. One tutorial can have 5 or 10 backlinks, depending on your submission.

    2. Classified ads can also be a good source for backlink. I've written a blog here on 50 best classified ads and you can see 100 classified ads in my site.

Both can be good sources of backlinks if you give focus on them, say for this entire week. Content is king indeed. Repetition is key.

    Thanks!

I think it's silly to advise the OP to create classified ads. Any boost you receive from the ad in the SERPS will be temporary (if any since it's no follow). You want links that will stand the test time aka a real website

High pr quality backlinks are still work, try to post your articles on ezinearticles, articlebase, isnare etc.. (its unnatural backlinks, but will work). Post your article on high pr blogs for natural backlinks and submit article links to social bookmark sites.

Actually, you can do all of that for less money. Using tool like SeNuke or Magic Submitter can help you a lot.

Post penguin it is more important than ever to use buffer site for your backlinking purpose. You can write and submit article to social network website or article directories such as zimbio or EzineArticles and drive tons of links using SeNuke or Magic Submitter to that buffer site.

You might need to wait a month before you can start seeing some results but it is safe for your website. The key is to do it consistently, for example
    - creating 10 web 2.0 page in first week.
    - drive all the links that you can to that web 2.0 website (blog comments, social bookmarking, forum profile, article directories, web 2.0 profile) in your second week.
    - and repeat the process again.

This tactic can make you rank in first page for medium competitive keywords in 2 or 3 months. A lot of SEO firms use this tactic post panda, so I know this tactic works.

      Thanks Oracle..

So as long as I have a buffer the spam links should be ok?

I guess I have to link the web 2.0 sites to my money site though, so would'nt google easily see the Spam?

      MONEY SITE
WEB 2.0 SITE linking to MONEY SITE
      Articles Linkingto WEB 2.0 SITE
Millions of Spam links, linking to articles.

You should focus on a combination of high page rank backlinks and in context web 2.0/article links. I use a high pr link exchange system for my high PR link base. Then write quality articles to distribute to web 2.0 properties and article networks automatically and manually. Add videos and pictures to your web 2.0 properties.

But stay far away from forum profiles and mass blog networks. "High PR" forum profiles do you absolutely no good and mass blog comments have been overdone.

I find contextual backlinks are the best, blog posts by far.

Don't forget social signals like tweets/retweets and facebook likes/shares. All of those are factors when Google is looking!

I would suggest you not to spend on a particular service until you know how SEO works. Google wants quality, natural, and contextual links, not spammy looking links.

SEOwned, you just do one thing, Index all your backlinks using an indexing service. I am sure this will improve your ranking greatly.
