Keyword Stuffing question

Hi all,

Like most people I lost quite a few ranking this latest update and am trying to improve my pages/not make the same mistake again. One thing i'm still a bit unclear on is the over-optimized portion. Does this include all 1 word, 2 word, 3 word phrases on a page? I was using this tool for keyword density:

Free Keyword Density Analyzer Tool

The 2 and 3 word stuff I was fine with but some of the 1-word instances were found quite often. For instance if my page was about a certain type of shirt, the word shirt came up quite a bit. Do I need to lower these 1 -word occurances as well?

Thanks!

Wanted to bump this for Monday...should I be reducing the density of one word occurrences that are not stop words like "the", "and", etc?

Don't stuff a single keyword more than one time thats all.

Yes, you should try to reduce the keyword density if possible, around 1%-2% density should be maximum if you want to use a tool.

The best thing you can do is summarise your content in dot points and completely rewrite it naturally without trying to include your keywords. Don't stop yourself including the keywords if it is natural but also don't stuff the keywords in there to bump your keyword density.

You should't really be looking at KW density anymore, it is more about the quality of the content and the natural nature of the writing.

I've had no issues with keeping my 2 word and 3 word keywords down at all. But the one word keywords are still high on the list. For instance, the word "review" comes up with a high % for me on one page. Should I be trying to reduce that?

Keyword density is not absolute. I have a site that's always been on the first page of results and it has a keyword density of over 15%. That's because it's the way I talk and it sounds natural because that's how people talk about the subject. Don't carve out the keywords and make the content sound weird because you're trying to write for a bot.

Also, don't bold only the keyword you want to optimize, bold some main points within your article it would also look natural.
