Best Method For Backlinks

I wanted to get an opinion as to what backlinks to use when trying to rank up the search engines.

I know that you need to find links from authority sites in your niche and that backlinks from social media sites and social bookmarking sites are always a good idea

However would you go for a mass of backlinks or do you concentrate on the few high quality backlinks.....and is there a recommended backlink plan to follow

Thanks

Jim

Quality backlinks. Few of them, from the most various sources. Google's recent updates have penalized websites that focused on SPAM links.

Relevance and authority. Think quality, not quantity. The easy ways are gone bye-bye. It's all about content now (as it always should have been). Put great content on your site and offer great content to get backlinks from highly trusted authority sites in your niche. You can fight it or you can assimilate. Resistance is futile.

Personally I try to focus on 3 things.

    1. link velocity: This is in terms of the speed in which I get them indexed. I try to make it at a steady rate (about 50 per day)

    2. link diversity: I try to diversify where i get my link from, so I get a combo of web 2.0, .edu, press release, social bookmarks, profile links etc...

    3. link quality: I try to focus on quality rather than quantity for my main sites. I would definitely aim for the highest PRs I can. I would then backlnk those backlinks with 1000s of blog comments.

The message from big G is clear; quality scores big time today.

That means articles on your site 500-1000 words optimised for your KW: do your on-page SEO, then link in from offsite sources. And that means small numbers of high quality links supported by large numbers of lower quality and diverse links (which can be got cheaply). So mix up the anchor text.

And include "click here" and "domain.com" as well as your KW.

      That's "natural" lol.

This one will work well. Killer content to get natural backlinks through viral sharing.

Or you can blast your site with thousands of links. But use buffer pages. Again it will come down to "great contents"

So is link buying always a bad move now? I was thinking about buying some from Source Links Source Links Home for my next site. It looks like a really good deal but will Google always detect it? I don't see how people build so many links w/o buying them. I see competing sites that have thousands of links. Creating these manually would take an unreasonable amount of time.

      Hi

Firstly, you just have to think "natural". Secondly you have to think "high quality" - not only of your content - but also of your backlinks. And thirdly, "variety".

Natural mean you don't get 1500 links to a new site in a 7 day period. That would be silly.

High quality links means you will get a lot more benefit from 10 or 20 links from non-spammy-looking sites with a bit of authority (PR 2 or 3 maybe) than you will from 1500 forum profile links.

And variety means that if you have a site with 2000 backlinks to it, and 1900 of them are from blog comments, then it's obvious someone's hit it with a Scrapebox blast or similar. That's a "footprint": if it isn't detected this week, it could be with the next Google update - (I predict it will be "platypus" ;-) )

Google does not so much penalise you for the spammy links: or it would be too easy to drop your competition in it. But it will discount them if you are obvious like this.

When BuildMyRank links were deindexed by Google earlier this year, the people who suffered most were those who relied on this blog farm (virtually) for too many of their links. They didn't diversify.

So, sure, buy some bulk backlinks if you want (not too spammy if aiming them at an important site), but use varity, maybe:
      - Bulk website directory submissions
      - Bulk article marketing submissions
      - Hand-submitted articles to the top half dozen article sites - ezine articles and goarticles etc
      - Document submissions - submit your own documents, containing links, eg to Scribd
      - Software submissions. Eg create a toolbar and submit it to software sites. This can be really good especially if you make it a useful one.
      - The services at 3WayLinks and Linkvana are safe at present though some say "a footprint will be found" (If you use the 3-Way Links Wordpress plugin, don't give the plugin creator a credit - that just plonks a lovely footprint on your links page).

Add some forum profile backlinks if you want - but bear in mind they have a low discovery rate.

And with whatever you do, mix up the backlink anchor text. If the anchor text in 90% of your backlinks is "Devon cream tea", it's obvious you've manufactured them. Mix it up and add in "scones and jam", "yourdomain.com", "click here", and "this site" etc.

It's worth reiterating that a small number of higher quality backlinks will trump a large number of low quality backlinks any time.

And, finally, relevance is becoming more and more important. So while a backlink is valuable: a relevant backlink is worth more - and the search engines will value it more as they get cleverer.

So, you will get good value from time spent searching out (or paying someone to search out) half a dozen relevant blog posts to post a useful comment on and get a backlink, rather than paying someone on Fiverr to get you 1000 blog comment backlinks on pages each with 100 outbound links to other sites - and 50% of which are going to have disappeared in a month or two.

Hope this helps! At the root, it's common sense. If you do buy links anywhere do look at them and see how valuable you think they look to a human. After all, if in doubt about a site it can get referred to a human at Google for manual review. Ask yourself what that reviewer would think.

Any links you do get you need to get them spidered and indexed to be of any value. To bring them to Google's attention Backlinks indexer is doing well right now and it's a 2 minute job.

      Good luck.

Its all about getting high quality (high PR) links after this update. Having lots of links is always better but make sure they are of quality and not just mass produced garbage. Google is penalizing low quality backlinks heavily these days.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying links. But if it looks like a short cut to you, then it probably looks like one to the search engines. I would stay away from anything that mentions "blast" or give you thousands of links immediately. The links will be low quality and will leave a massive footprint. Combine this with a low authority domain, and you are just asking to be held off the first page.

    • Focus on getting a few quality backlinks. You can use article submission and guest posting to get relevant links. Leaving comments on high page rank sites and blogs is another great way to obtain quality inbound links.

I see a lot of people placing emphasis on quality content.
How much of this content do you need?
    And what is quality content?

In my opinion, quality content is an article that has not
    been submitted anywhere.
Google can not read not to talk of fishing out incorrect grammar and errors.

    Yes, good content is good.
Good content is when its not published anywhere and its readable for the sake of visitors retention.

If you want to get your site on the top of the SERP
ensure you focus on quality links. Below are some of
my most recommended way of ranking a site.

    high pr contextual back links
high pr home page back links
    press release
    private blog network
    manual blog comment
    forum posting
    and so on.

It's always going to be based on the competition for the keywords you are trying to rank for. You can obtain your links from varieties of sources, but I've found off page blogging sites to work very well for my client sites. You really want to try to ensure there is a consistent amount of links being discovered for your site over time as opposed to a thousand links in a day. Google likes to see this as it's more natural.
