Moving On After Penguin Update - NEW TRAFFIC METHODS

Okay, so I like many of you took a HUGE hit to my wallet with this new penguin update and it was like a major wake up call for me as well.

I now realize that what I thought was a business was not a real business at all because I had been relying too much on Google for my paycheck. I was essentially working for them, and then...

...on April 24 2012 I was FIRED!!

Now, it is time to move on, brush my shoulders off and say F YOU GOOGLE!

Never again will I rely solely on any one entity for my traffic. The Internet is FREAKING COLOSSAL and there are soooo many other ways to get high quality eager customers to your website.

NO more SEO for me.

Problem is, I don't know where to begin, which avenue to turn next. I'm still bewildered by what has happened trying to make sense of all of this.

I was hoping that maybe we could get together and share some good ways to generate traffic without using search engines.

I'm already familiar with some methods of getting traffic, like article marketing, youtube videos, putting up a squidoo page...

What are some other ways?

Hopefully we can get a nice list started.

Since you have had some funds (assuming your paychecks could save you some), you could think of splitting into 2-3 other areas that you would feel decently comfortable to start with. These could be PPC (you already know your conversion ratios so you could try to figure out the price) for your existing products, CPA and traffic generation methods.

@MRUltra - lol, yes, you bet. I hope you are being sarcastic - at least I am sarcastic about the magic you mentioned.

Well first of all I just wanna say that although you got hurt bad by Google this time don't write them off completely. There are plenty of solid ways to still rank, you just need to change your methods. You can also just play by the book which works well also. So keep that in mind. With that said you should look into.

PPC - Great way to get some word of mouth going about a website. It can help rankings or you can just build a model on strict PPC.

Product Creation - Create good products, theres tons of money in that.

Youtube - Ive never really tried to dive into this area but I know people are making a killing with it.

Amazon - Selling products on Amazon is big business

Social Marketing - I used to make a living solely off of Myspace in my younger days. It can be done.

Forum Marketing - Look at Yukon's posts. He is the master of this. Im starting to dabble in it as well.

Those are a few off the top of my head.

    Hi aaallday2010,

Love your post, from your characterization of Google and the 'working for Google, got fired' analogy, to your upbeat & hopeful tone.

We consider ourselves experts in traffic - we developed one of the top traffic courses available (Traffic $100k Blueprint), and put a lot of focus on it in our private forum.

I'd like to try an 'experiment' if you're game. I'll 'scholarship' you, with our traffic course, and membership in our forum, free. I'll also work with you directly, something that would cost you quite a bit were you able to catch me during the infrequent times I take on one-on-one clients.

I'll go over your options - the various business models, strategies, and traffic sources other than search - plus the various ways to generate traffic themselves.

You'll figure out what you want to do, and I'll work with you to help you succeed.

In return... nothing. At most, should you feel inclined, maybe we'll do a write-up of your experience.

Message me or email me if you're interested: mike -@- analogymarketing(d0t)com

Well that depends, are you looking to start utilizing paid traffic to landing pages, or are yo uwanting to keep "blogs" going? If the later I recommend you start using social sources and sign up for a syndication service like onlywire. You could also use yahoo answers and start pumping out 10+ answers per day to build your traffic. Those 2 compiled with some good engaging content and you list building and you should be able to survive again!

I think this latest Google Update was a good thing for me.

Instead of wasting time on niche sites I am not passionate about I'm forced to instead improve myself and work on areas I like.

Basically its a wake up call for me to achieve what I truly want to achieve, which is create one or two authority style sites instead of just creating mini-sites.

An authority site creates a brand and a connection with people. Its something that lasts far longer than a niche site.

Right now I'm formulating how exactly I"m going to do this, but I know to do this I have to be better than 99.9 percent of people. People only like excellent content, good enough is not enough.

I am going back to my product creation roots. I'm also going to leverage my writing skills to make a kick ass mailing list.

Another tip - get as far away from the making money online niche as you can.
