Google is not responsible for your website, traffic, business

Google is not responsible for sending traffic to
your website.

If you opened up a cafe, bookstore, gas station,
shoe store, liquor store, anything....how do
you propose to get customers inside? Targeted
customers?

You are.

Is your website a real business? Then it should call
for some business techniques. Like advertising
and drumming up your own customers.

If your site is not worth spending on advertising,
then you have a hobby, not a web business.

Do you ever see ads on TV for godaddy? Why?
Shouldn't they just sit back and grab whatever google
traffic comes their way?

Zoosk? Shouldn't they just get that online dating traffic
free from google?

Hotels.com? Hotwire? Kayak? Priceline? How about
Holiday Inn? Shouldn't they just rank high for hotel
rooms and be satisfied?

Now you can snicker like a troll for the ways to get
traffic to your website all you want. There are
countless newspapers, magazines, etc. to advertise
in. There's plenty of niche magazines for any
site. Advertise in the LA times, they give you an
online ad plus print. I've done that. Do you?

Why not? Do you have a real business or don't you?

If you make x-amount of dollars on any products, see
a drop from google SERPs, what are you going to do?
Sit and moan? Whine?

Or are you going to get up off your butt and get
to work?

Who really cares if google deindexes you? Does your
site make money or doesn't it?

If you relied on newspaper print advertising to bring
customers to your restaurant, and like many the
newspaper folded, are you going to close your
restaurant?

Man if you are making serious money on your website,
then it's worth spending money on advertising.

You can do email direct marketing. Buy a list. Partner
with someone who has a list.

So snicker at the millions of ways there are to get
traffic to your website. But he who snickers last,
snickers best.

If your website is your business, then treat it as one.

Take responsibility for it. Complete responsibility.

    Is anyone saying that google is responsible for their business?

    I see alot of suggestions that googles new algo makes their search results worse, which is a matter of opinion but still a valid subject of conversation.

    I dont see anyone saying google is responsible for them.

    However if google is going to whore out my content and claim 'fair use' and then deny me the same 'fair use' on YouTube, then I am going to whore out their searchers and exploit them to my advantage as well

    Google is a tool to be used and discarded when no longer useful that is all

    You point out a good way to think about that people probably haven't considered, but is exactly what it is.

    It REALLY IS like you have a local business like a restaurant, and your local newspaper decides to mention your business in the top ten places to dine in the area.
    You get a boat load of customers, and life is good.
    But then the paper decides, nah we're not going to mention them anymore, you have no right to do anything.

    A lot of people here are in the same kind of situation with Google, but they are pouting and crying, and making accusations, and signing petitions, and a bunch of nonsense.

      I dont see a lot of crying i see alot of scrambling and people calling that crying.

      I see a lot of people trying to recover and asking questions in an attempt to protect revenues, if you lost revenues overnight wouldnt you ask questions and try and find out what exactly your next move is?

      If this was how you feed your family would uyou appreciate asking questions in desperation being called crying?

      For every post that actually is someone whining there is another with a fanboy whining about people daring to question their lord and master google

    BTW when you are google and you advertise crap like "dont be evil" you cant turn around and whine when people are stupid enough to believe google has good intentions are try to hold it to a higher standard
