What is "Links from an external page (other web sites except search engines)" in AWSTATS ?

I was just looking through my AWStats and I saw some upsetting stuff. This is a brand new site, less than a week old. It should not have any backlinks yet.
Yet, I see a bunch of extremely shady sites listed in this section. Are these my backlinks or are they listed because the sites comment spammed my blog? When I check Google and Alexa, I don't see any backlinks for this site.
We're talking about "Buy Xanax", adult and Viagra sites.
If these are backlinks, how can I stop these people from linking to my site?
